classic item, avoid at all costs, beautiful, hideous - what?

Ohforfoxsake Sun 14-Sep-08 17:48:36

I loved mine in my 20's. Now I'm pushing 40, and I'm not so confident. Same with my leather trousers. I still love them sad

I suspect no, for most people. M&S seem to have a lot of leather dresses and skirts atm, not sure why hmm.

I have skirt and trousers in my wardrobe. Both still beautiful but gone out of fashion. According to S Times, trousers are back in - but they must be skinny. Gah!!! foxsake - I'm older than you.

Every so often I get them out and try them on.

I have a sort of knee length one, are they back in fashion I might put mine on ebay then cos it's to big for me.

glinda Sun 14-Sep-08 18:03:38

urgh not for me! My deluded hubby bought me one for Xmas one year. I have never worn it!

LetThemEatCake Sun 14-Sep-08 18:07:16

this is probably why ... seems to tap into a lot of these 'trends'

but ffs, 400 smackers!

anyfucker Sun 14-Sep-08 18:09:07

nope

unless yu are 20 and a size 8 and ear them in a rock chick stylee

brimfull Sun 14-Sep-08 18:10:36

I think leather skirts/trousers/waistcoats are all hideous and should only be worn by Germans.

Leather coats are also dubious imo.

brimfull Sun 14-Sep-08 18:11:38

leather should be for shoes/boots and bags only

Lucycat Sun 14-Sep-08 18:23:23

The Moschino skirt is uck but I love the Louboutins!

Ohforfoxsake Sun 14-Sep-08 18:31:57

I have a lovely soft green leather jacket bought in Sydney which I stroke every so often, and a long leather coat bought in portobello market which I look at adoringly and have a long sigh. <sigh> They all have some sentimental value, but I know, in my heart, that they have had their day, and I am just too old now.

I wore one out a couple of weeks ago, short leather mini, tights, t-shirt - I was wearing it in a rock chick stylee at a cool gig.

I think for anyone over 35 it's heading into dangerous territory.

squeaver Sun 14-Sep-08 18:36:02

Oh yes I have a leather (actually suede) coat too which I hardly ever wear.

WideWebWitch Sun 14-Sep-08 18:37:11

urgh

filthymindedvixen Sun 14-Sep-08 18:37:42

If you are under 25, ok. Over 30 you will look like a saddo third-rate rock star's wife or a hooker

hatwoman Sun 14-Sep-08 18:40:22

when I was 13 I asked my 53 year old mum why she didn;t wear leather skirts like my friend Rachel's mum. I didn;t understand why she laughed. then I got a bit older and realised that maybe leather skirts weren't for 53 year olds. then a got another bit older and realised they probably weren;t for the 40 year-old Rachel's mum either. I'm not entirely sure which of these made my mum laugh...

I think you are being a bit narrow minded, you lot.

Shoes and bags, shoes and bags ... pah.

What about belts?!

What about BONDAGE GEAR??

hatwoman Sun 14-Sep-08 19:15:05

dh says if we can wear leather skirts is he allowed to wear his jeans under his bum with his (not designer) boxers showing?
