I would like a pottering around the house outfit that isn't sportswear. What do you wear to potter?

For the days when you don't plan to leave the house or see anyone, but you have stuff to do.

Can't bear the thought of not getting up and dressed (pjs all day - ugh, I know some people do it, but nooooo).

If I put on tracksuit pants and a t-shirt I feel munty all day. Maybe I need nicer tracksuit pants?

But I don't like getting properly dressed in real clothes either for lots of reasons.

What do you put on, on these days?

I'm a munter then - am in trakkie bottoms and DH's old rugby shirt as I type...

I don't want to fork out for reasonable outfits to wear in the house only for them to be covered in play doh, paint or soggy biscuit

My favourite wafting around the house outfit at the moment is dd's aged 13 Boden silk skirt, which has a lovely forgiving elasticated waist!

My excuse is that I sometimes go for a run later but I change into trackies as soon as I come in from work.

ATM I am wearing the fetching long cycling shorts I erm cycled home in.

I don't like to crawl round hoovering in my jeans - but I have been told off on MN before.

Ahh, linen trousers. Yes. But a pair of trousers that fit and was in good nick would then qualify for proper clothes - leaving the house clothes, and I'd be back to square one.

I'll quite often wear something like this with some close fitting 3/4 length trousers/clam diggers so if I have to nip out or go to the front door I can without having to change.

Hmmmm... am unconvinced by lounging trousers (apart from anything else, I can't stop pronouncing it lynejing trysers in my head). Bit too much like pyjamas.

lol @ kaftan. But nooooo, a kaftan would be turbo-annoying when I was carying the laundry basket upstairs or fishing under the bed for my hairbrush or wiping dd's bottom or emptying the paddling pool. Too floaty and liable to dangle.

I am reading this with interest - I am always on the lookout for appropriate "around the house" clothes. This may sound really weird, but I always have to get changed when I get home - not just after work, but even on the weekends - I feel I can't relax if I am wearing something that I wore out - even jeans.
I am afraid I wear trackies most of the time, with a nice top...
