Find me a statement plus size top, please!

It's my 40th birthday and I want to look good!

I've lost weight, about a stone and I am still losing, so I'm reckoning an 18 would be the size. (I'm just getting into my 18s now).

I have bought new shoes (size 10 feet mean this is feat. I have gold Tom's, gladiator sandals, some new trainers) and I'm thinking of getting some boden Richmond 7/8s in black.

To go with it all, I'd love a huge statement top. Massive sleeves, shoulder pads, maybe colour, maybe black. But no tunics or boring stuff. Fuck it, something fab-u-lous! My searches aren't bringing up much I like. Help!

Hmmm, what’s your budget? Where do you want to wear this top?
Is it for your birthday celebration and what will you wear it with?

Hello, thanks for the reply. I want to wear it my party. (Why does that make me sound like a 3 year old?!)

With the Richmond 7/8 trousers and gold Tom's, or gladiator sandals.

Budget, up to £100 for the right one!

I prefer the leopard one to the other one, mainly because I'm so tall and the first one just wouldn't be long enough at all!

I hear ya. I am long bodied and tall. Could work with high waisted trews though. Their main website isn't working for me this morning which is why I linked JL. They will have lots more on their own site. Happy hunting!

@goose1964, lovely though that is, it's not the look I'm after at all. Think Grace Jones: I want something a bit out there.

And @BoreOfWhabylon I think I've spent 3 days solid on navabi now! I've never bought anything from there, wondering if anyone has?

Thanks both

Check the material before you buy. I've bought some stuff that makes me look like a nylon Easter egg complete with bow.

Have you looked on River Island or Asos for statement tops in tall/curve sizing? Or topshop but they can run quite small.

I would stick to black or metallic or possibly a black based pattern to wear with black trousers, otherwise you might look a bit 90s corporate with black bottoms and bright top.

Ha, why don't I mind the thought of 90s corporate?

Hope that link works... This is something I'm selling on eBay ( just for an example). It's from Shein.com. Shein have lots of plus size things, some lovely prints ( you may have to wade through some odd pieces too though)

Thanks all. Love the ASOS one and like the roman originals one. The other dresses are lovely, but not my style at all. Smile

Oh, and the blazer is phenomenal but out of budget. Properly Grace Jones.

I love that blazer too!
You could get a similar look with this one (for a quarter of the price!)

I loved the Roman Originals top. That is lovely!

I bought this last year in Debenhams - its Coast. It's got batwing sleeves and a draped top, and a keyhole thing below the button at the back of the neck. It's basically 2 layers, and the lower one is fitted. I love it! It would look amazing with your outfit, but has been discontinued....

I looked on ebay and there are currently only three, one is new but too big and the others too small and have been worn - but it's always worth checking. These pictures show it better though.

Anyway - it might not be your thing, or colour - but best of luck finding something you love. Hope you have a wonderful party!!

If you really want Grace Jones/huge and massive sleeves this fits the bill:

You might or might not want a silky cami underneath. How brave are you feeling/ Grin
