Shorts for fat thighs

Ihatesundays · 11/05/2019 13:16

Going somewhere very hot and really need some new shorts. It’s just too hot not to have some. However I have been blessed with lifelong chunky thighs, I’m also short.
I know nothing will look great but would be better if as flattering as possible.
Has anyone seen anything....

I got some boyfriend style denim shorts from next. They are very roomy in the leg.

I have ordered these from cos.i have big thighs. I'm hoping they will accommodate them! Would they work?

Have a look at mountain warehouse. I have a pair from there and they come down to just above the knee in a very lightweight material. I have taken them to various countries around the world, and now wear them sometimes to the gym and they are great! They are also years old so get good wear too! I don't like "short" shirts iyswim so these are perfect for me!

greyworm those shorts may not work for you. They’ll fit but they will be tight around the thigh and loose at the knee so they may not look right. Maybe google jegging shorts?

Asda have some great shorts in this year. short shorts, mid thigh shorts and knee length shorts. The have a denim, and linen mix and a chino style. Maybe worth a look

Just bought these in Boden. Slightly coulotte effect and very comfy.

Not popular options here I’m sure but last couple of years I’ve bought linen mix shorts in ASDA, Bon Marche and Peacocks all at least part elasticated waist and generous cool legs. This year I may add some I’ve seen in Simply Be loose crinkle cotton mix in several colour ways

I second Asda. I have horrible legs - chunky thighs and fat knees! Usually keep them covered up in trousers but have bought these for hot weather, they are flattering and cool.

The Hush Marseille shorts are £££ but very well cut and a lightweight fabric, I have 3 pairs Blush

I just got some from matalan, on holiday no one knows you anyway and you won't see them again so I don't care if I look like a hefalump by the pool 😂😂 as long as I'm comfy! X

I like skorts or culottes if anyone has seen any nice ones. Also chunky of thigh and large of knee.

I like the Boden chino ones
Few different lengths and colours

Another vote for Hush Marseille, great length, good fabric

I like knee-length culottes-cool and practical. Tight shorts do nothing for me.

Mid thigh length shorts will look best apparently. I'm also short with fat thighs so looking into this myself today.

I've just bought some 'city' shorts from Primark for £6. I don't normally like throwaway fashion if I'm honest but shorts aren't something I would normally wear and I had nothing to wear when it went hot. They're quite nice and I am not blessed with the best of thighs.

I tried these on today and they were the best I've found so far.

Slight stretch and nice length on me at 5 foot 3. I have fat thighs and loose inner thigh skin from weight loss and they covered the worst bits well. Didn't buy as they were a little low in the rise for me- but if I can't find something with a higher waist I'll be going back for them.

Some great suggestions. I like the Hush ones but I am too cheap to spend that much on shorts.

I had been considering going to places like Bon Marche as assume might be generous cut and elasticated in there Grin

ihatesundays I bought a Christmas party top in Bon marche a couple of years ago Grin I'm only early 30s but hate tight things! This top was nice and 'flowy' and was also sparkly. My work colleagues all expressed surprise it was from Bon marche, so you never know!

I second Mountain Warehouse - bought three pairs from there today, all just over knee length and v flattering. Would never have thought of buying 'normal' clothes from there (as opposed to hiking stuff) but ended up with a dress and skirt too. Worth a look.

Uniqlo any H&M have some elasticated waist and wider leg shorts in. Can’t find on the uniqlo website but were in store earlier. H&M m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0619580009.html

I recently got these from H&M: www2.hm.com/en_in/productpage.0752811002.html

They're quite short, but because the leg openings are wide-ish I think they make my thighs look slimmer than they really are. And they're dirt cheap! They come up quite small - I'm usually a 12-14, and ended up getting a 16 in these.
