and where exactly should my breasts be?

In the proper bra, where should my breasts be on my body? I read somewhere that they should be halfway between my elbow and my shoulder. Is that right? Also, they're in desperate need of shape. Any suggestions for types of bras? I know I should get them measured properly but am losing weight and just want some for the in between stages (have gone down a couple of cup sizes and two body sizes already).

I don't want Dolly Parton boobs but don't want them hanging down to my belly button either.

I think it depends on age. But mine are halfway between elbow crook and shoulder. Good luck with the weight loss btw!

If that's without a bra, I'm very jealous. I kinda meant with a bra on as they do swing low, wobble to and fro, I can tie 'em in a knot and tie 'em in a bow and so on.

Where your boobs are depends very much on the uplift of the bra, which is determined by the cut.

If the seam goes across your boobs (horizontally) then that's 'minimum' uplift. If the seam goes diagonally from top to bottom (I'm talking aboubt the seam on your left breast if you tilt your head down and look at it - so the seam goes from the top left (i.e. near your armpit) to bottom right (i.e. near the centre of your chest) then this gives maximum lift.

Bravissimo are great for fittings and explaining how bras 'work' in terms of 'presenting' your boobs!

I did enjoy that. Erm yes but they are massive. Quite honestly I can't see my stomach because of them. But I go for heavy duty bras which both lift and separate and then they are under control - until it gets close to feedtime when one will be much much bigger and possibly leaky eeek.....

Oh you see now I'm feeling frumpy again....perhaps I need some new knicks.

Surely it's dependent on your individual size/shape. There's no substitute for a proper fitting, but a good check is making sure the band doesn't ride up at the back-- too large band size and too small cup size is the classic sizing mistake a lot of women make. Your correct band size will feel quite tight initially if you've been wearing an overly large one. Correct boob height must rely to some degree on where they're attached to your torso! I say start hoiking them up and when you get that little horizontal line running across the top from your armpit you've gone too far!

Nobiggy, is there a trick for keeping them on the front whilst sleeping? Ah, the joys of getting old. I've got to go to bed soon - am going to feel self conscious now, ack!

Are there different bras for different situations? I know I need seamless ones as the seams always show, but those need some shape as my boobs puddle at the bottom otherwise. In general I should look for the diagonal seams, though? Will those give enough shape?

I want to save Bravissimo as a treat if I still fit into those at the end of this. Having someone explain to me how bras work does sound very appealing, though.

Don't wait to go to Bravissimo. Go now!

If you go for a good uplifting bra, it instantly accentuates your waist and volia! you've lost weight (Loads of! Visually of course) in the seconds it took you to put it on. Trinny and Sussanah weren't joking .

Then you can get into more detail and have boobs that are anything from glamour model to matron (matron - a la carry on films is the same as horizontal, but obviously you need bazookas twice the size of your head diameter if you really want to pull that off. Luckily it's no longer then 1950's so you shoudln't want to!)

I can't go to Bravissimo now, really. I'm leaving tomorrow for the summer to a land without proper bra fitting shops (will give myself away if I say any more) but will go when I get back. I'll print this off and take it with me when buying some temporary bras.

Not sure about glamour model or matron boobs - just want normal boobs that give me a waist (yeah, that sounds fab!) and some sort of ok-ish body shape. Do like the idea of having options though... Thanks!
