And if not, would anyone like to start one with me?

What is princessing?

LuxuryWoman2018 · 06/02/2019 18:50

I’m more a candidate for Queen Mothering than princessing but I’m starting a middle age makeover so if you have room I’m in.

I'm in!

Ooh I don't know what this is about, but I'm in! Although like LuxuryWoman I'm more middle aged (it's the first time I have spoken those words ) than princess!

Yes I'm in

I'm in - I am 37 and feel I have lost my bloom. I treated myself to a load of makeup at Christmas and haven't used it because I really don't know what I'm doing Blush

So, this is my list, based very loosely on the original.

  1. 8 glasses of water a day.
  2. Exfoliate.
  3. The Shred / other intensive exercise / strength training.
  4. More fruit and veg.
  5. Regular hair oil or masks.
  6. Shampoo once or twice a week max.
  7. No alcohol to be consumed by me in the house at all; only when I go out or when we are entertaining.
  8. Daily vitamins.
  9. Body brushing.

10. At least 2 servings of oily fish per week.
11. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM.
12. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps, (for me it will be crisps).
13. DAILY body moisturising.
14. Warm water with lemon first thing.
15. Regular eyebrow & eyelash maintenance.
16. Less screen time; read more books for entertainment.

There's a "Anyone Planning a MakeOver in 2019" thread.

Princessing is usually a countdown to a date in mind (like Christmas Xmas Grin , or a Holiday , or IIRC the original one was a Wedding)

So , could be Easter (there's 78 days, I could start next week doing 10 weeks worth) .

Mine will be:

1: I'm growing my hair , so I'll have my trims every 4 months or so (used to be 5 weeks) now its all one length .

2: dye my hair before the grey get too bad

3: water , I drink loads . I don't drink alcohol or fizzy drinks (too much coffee though)

4: cull my wardrobe and wear the clothes I keep . No saving things for best

5: keep on with my Spends Diary (I'm on Low Spend so I keep a note in a diary . Only buy after consideration, no impulse buys)

6: keep on with using up the Beauty Stash. Don't be seduced inti buying the next Holy Grail shampoo (because there isn't one)

7: wear faketan. I don't wear make-up but I want to look less dug up

8; use the Nuxe oil , it smells lovely, moisturises and I have a bottle calling to me

9: wear perfume . Every Day .

10: I'll do my 6 weeks chocolate free Lent . I do every year and I do StopTober chocolate/cake/treat free .

I really need to drink more water

My average daily water intake is really bad

Here's what I'm already doing

  1. Daily Cleanse Tone And Moisturise And Eye Cream

  2. Check every two days for rogue facial hair

  3. Every 8 weeks for roots

  4. Nails, Eyebrows and Waxing Professionally once a month

  5. Using Frown Line Patches at night, body cream after a shower, and hair oil after washes.

I have to wash every 2 days due to somehow still having teenage greasy hair in my 30s or look a tramp Hmm

Ok, so...

I’ve started an extensive and expensive bout of cosmetic dentistry, my terrible teeth have caused me pain both physical and psychological so I’ve bitten the bullet and by the end of the month I’ll be able to smile and talk without being self conscious.

I need to keep up with hair trims and am due one but will have a colour freshen when teeth finished.

I need to drink more water and less coffee.
I need sleep, so much sleep.
Actually I need Botox, I’m spending so much on my mouth that what’s another few quid.

Ah yeah, good point^^ re having a date / event to princess for!

Easter works for me. We actually have a family event over Easter weekend, so that would be a good thing to aim for.

Glad to have some company Smile!

I struggle a bit with no 7 but think the rest are great maxims. I am queen at princessing. Also advocate knowing your gaps in your wardrobe - and other people you are responsible for (kids) so you can swoop when you know the right thing

Here is my list...it will be a bit pared down due to newborn (and three older kids!).

  1. Drink water, not just coffee.
  2. Get an hour's walk in every day, minimum.
  3. Seven fruit and veg a day (I usually hit five).
  4. Full body moisturise after ever shower.
  5. Book appointment for hair cut and eyebrows (gods, my eyebrows need doing!)
  6. Keep making sensible, considered clothing purchases to sort my wardrobe out.

I had a big wardrobe clear out during pregnancy and only kept clothes that I love. However, that left me with very little! I'm working on building a wardrobe of only things I really love, buying slowly and carefully and really considering my style and how I wear things.

I'm usually a runner, but I accept that I'm not going to be getting out for much running for a while yet. Without regular runs, I find it hard to motivate myself to exercise at all so my plan is to go for a walk as soon as I have done the school run (which I walk!) Good start yesterday, I walked 6.5 miles altogether!

Thanks for the explanations! I have to say it all sounds great but just reading the goals made me feel a bit tired. Good luck with it!

Morning all!

Well, so far I’ve already deviated from the plan and had a massive coffee instead of warm water with lemon. I was up in the night with the baby, so caffeine may be a bit of a theme today 😂.

On the plus side, I’m going to make some appointments today to sort out my eyebrows and lashes. I might also ask around locally about permanenet straightening. Has anyone tried it? I had a dreadful haircut recently and I’m growing it out, but it certainly looks better when it’s straight...

I might add fake tan to my list as well. With that along with the eyebrows and lashes, I could get away with not wearing make up most days.

Out tomorrow night with some friends. Will have a glass of wine, but probably no more than one. Nobody is a big drinker in that particular group, so don’t imagine I’ll get led astray.

I would like to do some exercise today too. Will see how the day goes.

How is everyone else doing?

I am on drinking more water, cod liver oil everyday, exfoliate and moisturise and long walks. But when I do this I try and do something for my mind as well as how I look eg everyday take 40 minutes to do something I really enjoy but never "find time" to do eg read, watch a documentary AND I also try and do at least one job in the house so it doesn't all build up - clean kitchen worktops, hoover stairs" etc etc

Yes insecure, reading more is on my list too. I get so much more from a novel than I do from my phone, yet I can’t seem to put down my phone to read!

Kiki do a waterflower brush...£17.
But I love it, I hate putting foundation on but this is a really flat big soft brush.. I used niva sp factor with some colour in, and my skin looks and feels better.

I'm the same with reading. One thing I have been doing is subscribing to Audible and listening to a book on my commute. Not fiction but non heavy self help ish books, or biographies. I've just finished Bryony Gordon's Eat Drink Run and really enjoyed it.
