That M&S dress! Who wants to place their bets?

http://www.goodhousekeeping.co.uk/fashion-beauty/fashion-news/marks-and-spencer-blue-white-wrap-dress

Came up on my Facebook feed. Apparently it's the dress everyone wants and won't be on the shelves long.

I bet it will go a similar way to the pink frilly number. Grin

I like it! Does that mean I have very bad taste?!

Oh - just looked at pictures on the M&S site. It looks like a dressing gown in most of them!

Lottapianos · 24/05/2018 13:07

Well it's a thousand times nicer, more flattering and more practical than the pink frilly horror. I don't think I'll be breaking their doors down to get my hands on one, but it's not a horror show by any means

Well the model prob 5:6 so it’s going be at my ankles. The V neck will be lower than my bra line and I already have lumpy middle don’t want extra bow/belt/fabric wither.

But if you are tall and slim it may work hate strips

Yup dressing gown here too

Looks like the outfit my kids school gets out every year for the kid who plays Joseph in the nativity

Another whole thread about it below

I don't understand this thing for m&s on here. If any other shop created a dress you don't like, you'd move one and continue browsing but if it's an m&s dress that's inoffensive, but not to your taste, multiple threads are made and we're all supposed to sneer at the state of the world.

It does look like a dressing gown on the website. Looks much better in the good housekeeping photo. There was a thread on this dress yesterday with the OP asking what people thought. General consensus: dressing gown!

I saw the other thread. That's what made me post the goodhousekeeping link.

I used to love M&S, walked through it yesterday, and straight out the other side.

I like it. The wrap style for people like myself with enormous bosums a fuller figure is usually flattering.

I like it, but I bet it's a bastard for creasing

Report
HappyLollipop · 24/05/2018 13:22

People are talking about it just not the way I'm sure M&S were hoping! It looks too much like a dressing gown and it doesn't even look good on the model so their not exactly selling it well.

Report
MsJolly · 24/05/2018 13:29

It's sold out in every size from a 14 down to 6 so obviously is popular

Omg it IS a dressing gown! Think it would look ok on the beach.

GrannyGrissle · 24/05/2018 13:43

It's really nice. What's the problem with it?

Report
ilovecherries · 24/05/2018 13:57

It's a little unfortunate, as I have a near identical dressing gown from about 20 years ago, also M&S. same shade of blue, same wide stripes. But actually, it's pure cotton, it's fairly plain and simple, it's not hideously expensive. I think it's got a lot going for it. M&S has done a lot wrong in recent years, but I don't think this dress is an example of that.

yeah I quite like it too. I am not sure I'd buy it, or beat down any doors but I might try it on and consider it if it was a good fit.

I quite like it but it’s nicer in the GH article than on the M&S site. I’d wear a different belt rather than the dressing gown tie it comes with.

I’m a size 20 so would resemble one of those double deck chairs in it!

Not my style really, and I don't really understand the hype. Seems like a simple summer dress - the style and print are hardly revolutionary are they?

I like it, but the length is a bit odd. I might have a look at it in the 'flesh' and see if I could be arsed to take it up.

kingseat2016 · 24/05/2018 21:33

I like it but it’s not king enough and I bet it’s a bastard to iron.

I'm beginning to think M and S bring out a hideous dress on purpose every season just to get publicity in a 'no publicity is bad publicity' way.

I mean, I just clicked on their website because of it, so it's clearly working as a ploy to increase online traffic.

Looks like a towel or a dressing gown. I imagine it is only flattering on very slim women
