Cloud 9 straighteners for waving shoulder length thick straight hair?

I'm desperate to be able to wave my hair in the mornings. I can't seem to do it using my current straighteners. I think possibly because they're wide ones, only cost me 30 quid and potentially on their way out.

If I invest in some of these Cloud9 straighteners everyone is raving about, will I magically be able to wave my hair? I have a £50 voucher for Very so thinking I should strike while the curling iron is hot! (groan)

They are just AWFUL.

I've always had GHDs but thought mine were on the way out, so got Cloud 9s as everyone seemed to rave about them. They are utterly pathetic and no style stays.

I mentioned to a hairdresser recently and she said:

(a) she can always tell when someone uses them as they wreck your hair; and,

(b) they did a great campaign a few years ago giving lots of free stuff to hairdressers and getting them to push the 'these are the people who made the original GHDs' and she's right - I see that trotted out all the time, people really think they are sharing insider knowledge.

(c) she said that if you have gone off GHDs, she's suggest Corioliss (I saw lots of these cheap in TK Maxx recently).

I've gone back to my GHDs as they don't seem to have broken after all and I don't have hours to spend every day on lukewarm Cloud 9s that give me static, and that I need to redo six times during the day.

AND their customer service is crap.

Wow quite a scathing review! Tried and trusted Ghd's then. They're cheaper too

I'm sure others have said waving with Ghd's is easy too so that meets my main criteria

I agree ghds are the way to go! My ghd classic styler broke so I bought cloud 9s they weren’t great and have just sold them. I have now invested in a set of ghd platinums and they are so much easier for waving hair as I do this alot

I wave my hair with new ghd straighteners every day with success. Never tried cloud 9

I agree, have just bought GHD platinums after my Cloud9s packed up within 2 yrs. The GHDs are superior in every way.

I have the cloud 9s, very thick hair and I use it for waves most of the time and have no problems! They're much better than my previous straighteners but don't know about GHDs.

I agree with Bewiser - I have very thick, curly hair which I straighten. My Cloud 9s are great and have not ruined my hair.

I am a newbie to waving hair but went to hairdressers on Saturday at 5pm for styling - you get a 10 mon appointment for £10. Had waves / curls put in. Asked hairdresser what brand of straighteners she was using & she said Cloud 9s. Hair is chin length bob. Poker straight. I'd put mousse in before going to hairdressers. She didnt use anh product, just tiny bit of hairspray afterwards. Went to event, danced all night (throwing head about), slept, hair looked as nice all day yesterday.

Cloud 9s wrecked my hair. They blew up after about 18months too. I’ve gone back to GHDs and I’m so glad I did.

I went through two pairs of cloud 9s in 18 months, they kept shorting and cutting out. When they work they are ace, but more often than not they were faulty! Ghds all the way!

I asked my hairdresser in the end and she recommended a brand called Diva so I got some of those. Happy so far. Managed create one wave, maybe two. Seriously I'm some kind of wave dunce. She's going to show me how next time I'm in!
