Ha, you know me bani, a mere whiff of anything Scandi (or cardamom for that matter) and I'm all over it I hadn't looked at the jeans as I've just bought a bunch but they look really good, I like the look of the Selvedge ones with the little reverse detail on the ankle. Look like a good staple model but am annoyed that they can do Organic cotton for Weekday and Monki for that kind of money but not here, where they're all about fabric? Which ones were you thinking about?
I think with H&M it's always been a bit of an issue that they're too big to run an effective web shop without diverting a massive amount of investment and operating a standalone e-commerce powerhouse like Asos, Zalando, Net-A-Porter, etc. which are all web based only. Ikea has the same issue, they've been so tentative and useless over the years with their e-commerce venture I've stopped buying from them altogether as they'd never have everything I needed online and I just can't be bothered to experience seven circles of hell go to the store for a few items.
I didn't really have issues with the Arket site aside from some loading issues which I assumed were down to traffic but who knows. It is following an annoying trend though of being designed for mobile and touch screens rather than desktop. I thankfully recognised the functionality of the drop down menu quick enough (and in all fairness it works well once you've spotted it and I particularly like being able to filter items by the country where the items are made) and then it works very intuitively but far more likely in generations that grew up with that as the dominant technology. They seriously risk alienating their more likely target audience who probably still remember /dos/ vaguely (or at the very least the early incarnations of Windows) which still somewhat determine how they approach a computer (less intuitive and more code based demanding a bit of order and ease of overview).
I think from the H&M stable the Weekday website is the best, they give very specific measurements on the models (more than just height) on things that are fitted in style. Lots of pictures too and decent search criteria, they just do that unfortunate thing of cutting models' heads off. Monki is the one I struggle with and am majorly conflicted about at the same time. I so applaud them for using various models of different sizes, shapes, and heights but it makes it a bit tougher to zone in on whether something would work for me especially since they're already a bit bonkers in the sizing department and a lot of their clothes can make you look substantially bigger than you are.
