You can only really look stylish in the heat if you're naturally very slim, I reckon. There are several mums at my DD's school who have that tiny-framed, small-breasted, gamine look going on, and they look wonderful, drifting about in loose-fitting, floaty clothes that makes anyonre bigger than a size 10 and a B cup look like a ship in a ship in full sail.

It's definitely a shape thing, not just a weight thing. Even at my thinnest, when I was a size 10, I could never have pulled off that look, I was still too curvy.

So jealous. I want to drift too!

I might be deluded but I think I look chic in this weather @ 5'10", size 12 with f cup boobs. Today I am wearing a black linen notch neck shift dress with t-bar sandals. Yesterday loose black trousers with a vest and unbuttoned silk shirt on top. I think it's all about a) actually being comfortable with clothes that fit properly and are the right fabric for the weather b) owning it!

I'm the same as User. Size 8 but I sweat badly and constantly worry that I smell of BO. Everyone has their issues I suppose. Oh and I also have manky feet so never wear sandals. I'm jealous of people with lovely feet who can wear pretty sandals.

I've put on weight since last summer, hope I still look stylish well I mean not a bag of shit tied in too.

I've never been able to pull off floaty dresses even when slim. Today I have tailored summery shorts with a floatish summer top hiding my muffin belly. My belt matches my shoes.

My hair on the other hand looks like a badgers arse tied in a bun as its too hot and I still unwell.

My sibling is very curvy and huge boobies and she has some lovely clothes and looks stylish and like me it's just high street stuff.

I used to like my figure Venella. In my 20s and early 30s I had a very curvy, Kelly Brook-esque figure. It suited me and the sort of clothes I wore - sharply-tailored suits for work; very fitted dresses for socialising.

Late 30s and two kids later, the proportions are different, it's all a bit saggy, and depending on what I wear I look either matronly or, frankly, just kind of slutty.

I hear you! I'm a 12-14, so not that big, but I have f cup boobs, chunky footballer legs (shortarse) and wobbly arms/tum. I find it SO hard to dress in this weather! I have started to wear midi skirts without tights and think I look ok, but then I catch reflections of myself in windows and am horrified!

As I'm only 4'11 anything long and floaty makes me look like I'm playing dress up in someone else's clothes.

I've got a maxi dress on today because I was so hot yesterday but had to have a belt to hitch it up enough so I don't trip over

I'm also hating the fact that the humidity is making me look like I'm channelling frizzy 80's hair but if I put it up I have a sweaty head!

It's not that I don't think any other body type can look stylish (although everyone else I've seen over the past couple of days, other than the Slim Drifters, looks hot and frazzled) I just think they generally need a bit more structure, and in this weather structure can be uncomfortable. For example, I'm wearing a floaty skirt today, but I've to pair it with a fitted vest top, else I look like a jelly fish. But fitted means less air circulation, which means sweat, which then gets trapped between and around my boobs, which are trapped inside the ridiculously structured bra I can't go without - which means thin straps or strapless things are also verboten.

I think everyone has their issues, I'm 5.5 and a size 6-8, but I have bad spots on my back and never feel that I can wear anything that's low cut at the back. I look at anyone in this weather with a lovely back and feel jealous.

I don't know that we're very good at dressing for the heat in general. I think people should wear what they want as long as they're comfortable but the school playground is a sea of sunburn and clingy, sweaty viscose. Everybody just looks frazzled atm (I include myself in this).

I'm a small size 8 with a boyish frame and look no better than anybody else in this heat.

Me too - I love those little strappy camisole tops, they look like they're really cool in the warm weather. Unfortunately I have massive boobs so my bras just look ugly if they show (motorway size straps) and the tops just hang from them.

Also, why are summer tops always bloody see through? What kind of bra can you wear under such flimsy stuff if you don't want it on show?

I look best in Spring and Autumn when I can layer tops and wear fitted stuff.

A lot of the proportions of summer clothes just don't work on me at all - I'm about 5ft3 and currently size 10/12. I've been smaller and bigger before and always struggled with summer clothes. Sandals make my legs look strange and sleeves always end at the wrong bit of my arm and floaty is just not my style.

Well that's completely fair enough. Have you tried the bravissimo vest tops? The integrated bra streamlines everything (only 1 thing to wear not 2) and they are great quality. I got a couple in the sale as they are pricey. I wore them to waft around in my silk shirt yesterday. Generally think covering up in good quality thin fabric is cooler than shorts and tshirt...

Lots of people struggle with hot weather clothing for all kinds of reasons. Due to having weirdly shaped feet and ultra blister prone skin I can't wear sandals of flip flops to walk any distance in. I'm stuck in fully enclosed shoes (can't even wear ballet flats or loafers without socks) which are sweaty and just look awful with any summery outfit.

I've seem some gorgeous girls with hips and boobs in form fitting vest style dresses that look great too but it doesn't work with tummy fat or fat bulges round bra and knickers.
