This is me - lots of very thick, curly hair. I'm in PJs in the photo but tbh it's an accurate depiction of how scruffy I look normally.

I'd like a new style - preferably something less aging and mumsy - but have no idea what would work for me.

I don't tend to straighten my hair, so it needs to be something that can just dry into the natural curl (as per photo).

I've got a haircut booked in a couple of weeks, can anybody help me with what I should ask for?

You don't look old or mumsy to me.

I love your hair! I would recommend buying some Olaplex #3, it'll work wonders.

Oh my. I have some serious hair envy right now. Please do not cut off that glorious mane of yours! This just goes to show that we all want what we haven't got. Is that your natural colour too? It's lovely.

You look bloody gorgeous and you should leave your beautiful hair alone!

Honestly, it's fab. Don't cut it.

A curly bob cut at your jaw would look cute. You could carry that off really well. I love your hair.

You're really naturally pretty OP, I wish I looked like that without having to slap ALOT of make up on

Oh my.

I'm absolutely screen shotting all of these comments for when I need an emergency confidence boost. Aren't you all lovely?

I think it's probably flattering lighting, but thank you anyway.

Hmm... yes, I'd wondered about a longish bob. Silver can you find a picture of the sort of thing you mean? When I've searched for curly bob images I can only ever find either afro-esque hair or loose GHD waves, so can't get an idea of how it would work on me, if you see what I mean?

Your hair is wonderful.
If you feel 'mumsy', would make up or new clothes help?
Your hair is fab and not at all aging or mumsy. You also have lovely skin.
I would wear light make up, but heavier on the eye and maybe some lip gloss. Get your nails done, look at the dark dark reds, short oval shape.

Honestly, you look lovely!

Curly hair can be profiled into different 'types' depending on how wavy/curly it is. Yours looks like a 3B to me (Google "curly hair type" and you'll see what I'm on about). If you search Pinterest for '3B curly hair' there are some ideas to look at. Much as I disapprove of you cutting those lovely locks Grin, there are some nice shorter styles actually.

I would do anything for your hair! Not helpful.

Your hair is gorgeous.
But if you want something different, you could go for a graduated bob like this either with or without a fringe.

Oooh I think I'm maybe somewhere between a 3a and 3b, bluebird. What a clever system. I'm going to pour over Pinterest for a few hours now. Thanks for the tip.

I like that bob, couch, but maybe a tiny bit longer for me. I've always struggled with fringes - I'd like one I think, but if a curl dries weird one day then it can throw the whole thing off because you can't just smooth it back into place.

Thanks all Grin

My hair is a bit curlier than yours op and the best cut I have found for it is like this, there are quite a lot of short layers ( I like my hair to look big, this might not be for you)
Whatever you do do t have a fringe, I've done it (more than once) it always ends up in hair clips or looking like Kevin keegan on a bad day

I'm a bit worried about your username OP because you should never brush curly hair Grin

Another vote for not touching your hair. It's lovely and really suits you.
I straighten my hair now and naturally my hair is frizzier and in poor condition. When I cut it short, it went out like a mushroom. Longer hair seemed to be far more manageable.
What about looking at Pinterest etc for updo inspiration which looks especially nice with curly hair?
Bumble and bumble curl creme is excellent.

I LOVE your hair. You should change by creating a style based on this pic adding the twists....

If you must cut it, I like the pic Nancy has posted.

You do have beautiful hair, don't cut it! If you feel mumsy I'd look at new clothes/makeup. Your hair's gorgeous.

Much shorter with layers to bring out the curl. The sides are fab but the top is being dragged down.

Your hair is lovely as it is! Beautiful curls. The only improvement I can think of is to trim the ends a bit and cut some shorter layers into it, so you'd get a bit more volume at the top. This does depend on liking 'big' hair though. Which personally I do! (And would love to have myself). Seriously though, your hair is great.

Another one here just to echo what fabulous curls you have!

Max the Hell out of such lovely tresses...

(And run in opposite direction if anyone advises 'straighteners'. Would be sacrilege)

Really lovely thick hair. I wouldn't change the style much but maybe use some products so it lies a bit smoother on top. I am not an expert on curly hair but my wavy hair has a top layer of frizz and it looks better when it's smooth.
