Help me style this dress

I've got a party to go to soon, but as a size 16, 5ft3 and just a couple of weeks after having a baby I'm stuck on what to wear. I've seen this dress and think the shape would flatter as it would hide my tummy. I haven't got great legs so would need them covered.

Do you think this dress would be ok? How would you style it? Tights and ankle boots? I can't do big heels!

Thank you.

Or if this dress would be no good (possibly too high at the front - I'm large chested), can anyone recommend something that would look ok? Thank you.

Without actually knowing you or seeing it on its very hard to decide. It looks like a nice dress though. I personally wouldn't wear black tights with it and maybe ankle boots might kill it a bit, do you have any small heels? I tend to wear ankle boots with floral dresses, you know a bit more boho then that one. Unless of course they are dressy ankle boots like shoe boots. It is a lovely dress.

I think my best option is to order the dress and try it on!!! I'll try nude, good quality, hold everything in place tights, and be brave and try heels. Thank you.

No problem. M&S autograph tights are nice and don't push your tummy up and over like many other brands.

I was just about to check M&S. Thanks for the recommendation.

Are you going to wear any jewelry? I think silver would look nice.

If you go for a heel with a bit of platform and a chunky heel they are much easier to handle. The dress needs a chunky heel as it is quite utilitarian so would look odd with delicate shoes anyway. the silver colour of the accessories don't do much for me, I reckon you could go for something much nicer and have a play with colours/textures.

*silver on jewellery would work btw. I just don't think the shoes and bag work!

I was thinking chunky heels and silver jewellery. Will have a look at different shoe colours and see what stands out. I never wear dresses, and always stick with safe boring colours, so will be nice to wear something different.

If you can, order and try it because you never know.

However, I have a large chest and the high neck combined with cut out shoulders would make me look very wide across the chest.

What about something like this with black tights and ankle boots?

dress

necklace

If you like it how and don't like heels then pointy small soled flats could look funky and not frumpy. Shoe boots rather than ankle boots would look less clumpy maybe?
