What is best to wear if you are short and fat?

I think your issue isn't so much what to wear as a need to go and chat with your GP.

Look, I am sorry if I seemed to go off the deep end there.

But I started a thread in chat where the poster just seemed to keep telling me to wear something I a) didn't have and b) wouldn't be suitable. Fine post it once but three times?

Then on here I felt like I was being told to shut up. Wear what you want. It felt like I was being followed around and harassed. Being annoyed with someone deliberately trying to twist your threads doesn't mean I have to see my GP!

It really isn't extreme at all. I had nothing to wear. No not even jeans and a long floral top.

Have you thought about getting a stylist from John Lewis or Debenhams? Would be worth the fee i think you can claim agsinst cost of clothes. I think really good quality fabric, monochrome or block colours, and fabulous basic shirts and trousers/skirts which you can dress with accessories.

Hey calliiee, don't take it personally. I'm not sure people posting even realise they're responding to the same person or how a not badly intended post can some across to someone feeling crap about themselves.

There is however a lot to be said about wearing the right size and also about keeping within your comfort zone and choosing clothes that suit the occasion.

Are you looking for work clothes, casual clothes, particular event?

I may be way off the mark here but the only time in my life I cancelled plans because of having "nothing" to wear was when I was my all-time heaviest, refused to buy anything in the size I actually needed and was desperately unhappy. Could that be what is going on?

I'm not too short, I'm rather medium height but I'm definitely round. I positively look heavily pregnant with my protruding tummy (bloated) and i have chunky thighs and short legs. So I like trousers and long, bum covering tunics, cardigans with slightly high heels. Whether it looks good or not, I'm not very sure but I can't wear short tops, it looks horrendous, so that's the best style I found I'm comfortable with. I noticed if the fabric is good quality and slightly fitted, then it looks stylish. Also, fitted dress (despite the extra bulges) worn with high heeled knee high boots, looks great. You can wear it with a short cardi-top to break the severe/ heavy look. Despite showing all the extra bulges, the fitted dresses look million times better than shapeless loose items. If the dress is a dark colour (dark purple, for instance), then the short cardi could be a lighter colour (light purple-light violet etc) looks great. Expensive looking accessories make the clothes. That's my humble opinion. I am not the best dressed person at work but I observed a lot, what looks stylish on women with extra weight.

I think you're taking Joff's comments the wrong way, she's totally right to say you should wear whatever you fucking want. It's a way of saying you shouldnt think you are limited to a certain type of outfit based on your height or weight.

MN is a sweary place. Totally normal.
