What trousers do you wear other than jeans?

For general day-to-day casual, not work.

And what shoes do you wear with them?

After dog walking, for which I wear whatever comes up first, I change to whatever is most adaptable to the rest of the day. It could be smarter jeans. or a dress. At that point it's about my mood. Same for shoes.

I've just bought some khaki skinny cargo trousers and am really pleased with them. I've been wearing them with Converse or heeled ankle boots but I'm now looking for some flat ankle boots that will hopefully also work with them.

Oh they sound lovely Remus - are they full length or do you keep a gap between your boots and the trousers?

I'm finding it hard to venture into trouser territory - I love skinny jeans, and I always think trousers will be too baggy round the ankle. I've seen some lovely velvet slim fit trousers though, but not sure how to style!

They are about 7/8s length.

You've just reminded me of some slim leg black velvet trousers I owned years ago - basically they were like jeans but velvet. Gosh, I loved those trousers!

Some stretchy khaki trousers I got in the H&M sale. Nice and round the ankle. I wear them with brogues or ankle boots.

I've also got a couple pairs of slim fit cigarette style trousers. I wear them with brogues.

I don't suit trousers - I'm either Ina dress and tights in winter or jeans. In summer I like chinos and 7/8 lengths, long trousers just don't work.

I wear spandex-y Disco Pant type trousers quite a lot, but not for everyone, I appreciate!

I love my leather leggings too, have a couple of pairs; one classic black, one plum suede.

For casual I wear skinnies, ponte leggings or velvet corduroy type leggings
Rest of time sweater dresses and tube skirts this time of year

I'm looking at this thread with interest. I am sick and tired of skinny jeans and I'm not sure I even like them anymore.

Last year I bought a couple of pairs of patterned cigarette style trousers. I threw out one pair after looking at a photograph of me wearing them. My legs looked stuffed into them. The other pair are quite summery and I didn't wear at all this year. I tried on a pair in Massimo Dutti recently but the waist was too low and my legs looked like bulging sausages in them

I am on the lookout for wide trousers or even wide jeans but they are always sold out (or possibly never restocked) on the websites I check.

I have a pair of H&M navy (now very faded) slim but not skinny trousers that I wear so much. They cost less than 20 pounds and I wish I had bought them in every colour they had.

I have a few pairs of cropped chinos (regular and skinny), but I rarely wear them - it's jeans pretty much all the time.

Cigarette trousers, wide leg trousers etc I tend to wear for work, so I avoid them on casual days.

And shoes - flat sandals, trainers, loafers....

Leggings, cargos or straight-leg walking trousers.

aldi that's interesting, maybe I'm the same. I have a pair of chinos which aren't full length and look great in the summer, but I can't work out how to wear them in winter.

I think I do suit dresses and skirts better, but I fancied a change. Am off to google half the types of trousers named on this thread though.

Jace I really like the leggings you suggested! Maybe that's more the way to go.

I find it so hard at this time of year. I love chinos in the summer but I find it hard to get the footwear right in the winter.

It's far too cold for bare ankles and no socks here. I need to find a jean alternative I can wear with boots.

Yes exactly spaghetti - I love the bare ankle look but sometimes it's just too bloody cold. I hate the feeling of bunched up fabric tucked in an ankle boot though, so maybe I'm stuck with skinny jeans, leggings and tights!

My eternal issue. I can never seem find trousers that fit or suit, other than jeans. I have round hips and a sticky-out bum but slim ankles, and I'm short; the prevailing peg-type shape just makes me look fat around the arse.

Years ago I managed to find and wear nice trousers, why can't I do it now?

GinAndOnIt · 29/10/2016 07:51

ARich you sound a similar shape to me. The thing I find that looks terrible on me is anything high waisted, and everything is high waisted nowadays. I wear long tops or jumpers now but it would be nice to wear a tucked in top or a shorter top. High waisted trousers just make me look like a three year old's drawing of her dad - two looooong lines for legs with a head plonked on top!

I really love these but I'm fairly confident they would look ridiculous on me.

Grin I know the feeling. I also have a ridiculously short torso so tops are a whole other minefield.

I wonder if maybe my bottom half has a lot more shape than my top half, and anything other than skinny hides that shape, so I end up like an ironing board. I have narrow shoulders, a fairly small bust and not much of a waist, but have a good bum, hips, and legs. Maybe I just need to stick with looser fitting top half and snug fit on bottom. Gets very boring when you fancy a change though!

DH and I buy everything apart from food and clothes from amazon, because they're often competitively priced and with young children I detest going out to the shops and DH works ridiculously long hours.

Our amazon delivery guy is great, so I know he puts things carefully in our safe place and doesn't interfere with packages at all (experienced at last house).

We feel we get value for money and have tried to go with out prime only to sign up again!

Just discovered their music too, I usually pay for Spotify so will stop that and build some playlists on amazon.

I wear high waisted, wide leg (not flares) black trousers way too often. For work and casual and formal...oops.

Other than that I wear jeans or skirts.
