Pewter accessories with deep green dress (winter wedding guest)?

Hi all,

I'm hoping to wear this dress to a London afternoon/evening wedding in late October (hopefully the picture will work!)

I though black shoes would look a little sombre, so was instead thinking of pewter metallic accessories - I already have pewter bag and shoes. Does that sound like it could work? I could get a grey fur stole and pillbox (can you tell I like the '40s look?) - but pewter is hard to match, hopefully any shade of grey might do?

All and any comments on the outfit most welcome! I usually do summer country weddings, not late autumn Mayfair ones so feeling less sure of myself. I don't really want to buy anything new (perhaps a hat) as I'm trying to save money for next year's holidays.

Great dress - where's it from?

I think your proposed outfit sounds fabulous. A lovely combination of textures and a strong silhouette.

Thank you :) it's from Lena Hoschek (one of my favourite designers but expensive enough that I have to stalk the sales...!)

I love that dress too. I think black with pewter or grey sounds great and much more interesting than black with black. I wouldn't worry about getting an exact match.

A stole and pillbox hat also sound irresistible and the only thing I'd say is not to wear too many accessories as they might detract from the shape of the dress.

Whoops I'd looked at the pic and thought the dress was black but I see from your op that it's dark green. It doesn't alter anything I said - in fact I love it even more now.

That's a good point about not over-accessorising... perhaps I need to make a choice between hat and stole? Think I may need the stole for warmth but a hat does finish an outfit off nicely!

It's true you could probably do without the hat - well groomed hair would do equally well. (It might actually still be a bit warm for any sort of fur headgear in late October.)

But you'll know when you look in the mirror!

I'd try both first as they sound fabulous and it might all look fine. If I had to choose, I'd probably go for the hat because a stole might hide that neckline and sleeves which would be a shame. (Plus I love hats and just think of all the heat you lose from the top of your head!)

Or take both and switch halfway through!

Ha ha you'll have to choose between me and Gruach now!

No, no - I almost came back to say or you could just wear the hat.Grin

I guess it depends on the exact style and proportions of both. Completely agree that nothing must detract from that wonderful dress.

Tee hee! Thank you both very much - if I can't decide whether one/the other or both I shall pop back to this thread and post a photo Smile Smile
