Getting make up done in london

Hi

Relatively new poster, can't get username changed on the mobile site, sorry! Long time lurker looking for advice please.

Coming to London for a break next month. Usually, for special occasions I get my make up done (my treat!), and have done so around Scotland with local recommendations. However, I'm completely stuck with london! I'd love to get it done professionally, and not at a make up counter as I'd like a full face done.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations. Staying West Central London but could travel a reasonable distance.

I always go to Trish McEvoy in Liberty. They're so lovely and I've never had a bad face done.

You could try one of the Bobbi Brown studios. I've used Covent Garden and Spitalfields and had very good results at both. You can book your 'lesson' online and choose which kind of look you want (including full face).

They're free too, and don't give you too much of a hard sell.

I've had mine done in Liberty - Trish McEvoy is great, as is Bobbi Brown - but you said not a make-up counter so probably totally unhelpful.

TBH, if it's in a month many really good people will be booked up. It depends what you want - I know someone who had their make up done and they didn't like it- was too dramatic. Have you thought about going somewhere like Space NK?

I've got a friend who's a professional make up artist and she told me that Most make up artists work at make up counters in London. Charlotte Tillbury (selfridges) only hires independent make up artists. You have to pay but it's redeemable. Also the MAC in Covent Garden is good too.

Are you going to a blow dry bar too?

Complete tangent but OP have you ever had your make up done somewhere around Glasgow that you could recommend?

only I love quite a strong make up look, and there's a girl I love in Glasgow who does that and can do more subtle too. I will try to get some pics and can forward details. She's out near Maryhill but I find her great! And very accommodating!

Blow in Covent Garden. They also have a branch in Canary Wharf. Very reasonable, you can book online, and you don't get gawped at by shoppers.
The Beauty Workshop in Selfridges is similar but more of a faff in my experience.
Harvey Nichols have just relaunched their beauty department so might be worth investigating.
Second votes for Trish McEvoy at Liberty. Marta and Francesco are both wonderful.
