Curl defining products please

I wonder if anyone knows of any good curl defining products I could use. For years I've been using straighteners on my naturally curly hair - I'm giving it up and going as nature intended. However, nature was a bit cruel and although the curl itself is nice 'underneath', the top of my shoulder length hair is just a nucleus of fuzz.

The curls themselves are quite loose but need serious defining.and although my hair is fine, there is a lot of it and quite volumous (sp?) and can take a lot of product. The last time I wore my hair curly, crunchy, crispy mousse was the way forward. I'm guessing things have moved on since then! Price isn't an issue (within reason) for the right product.

Moroccan Oil mousse. Incredible softness and not a crunch in sight regardless of how you dry your hair. Although pricier than other products (£10-20) it has lasted much longer than I anticipated; 4 months in and I'm nearly half way through it. Have recommended it to work colleagues and they are all swearing by it!

Ooh that does sound good. I saw it had good reviews but I wanted to hear from someone who had actually, actually used it. Worth a shot. Any other styling tips? Wide tooth comb, I guess? Gentle on the towel drying too? (Seriously, it's been so long I've forgotten!)

Just towel dry so it's not sopping wet, put some mousse into the palm of your hand, distribute between the two hands and run your fingers through your hair. No combing or brushing, just run your fingers through.
I can't comb my hair or I look like I've stuck my finger in a socket.
I searched for years for something to allow my hair to be natural and still 'professional'. Obviously a really good hair cut is essential, so I'd recommend finding someone who knows how to cut for curly hair.

Amargan curl cream is good if you aren't avoiding silicone.
Boots pink curl creme is good and so cheap you can't go wrong. Rub it between your hands to emulsify it before you use it, I find a little goes a long way.
I'm using shea moisture shampoo and conditioner from boots at the moment and that's good too.

Google the curly girl method - loads of tips there.

Don't towel dry as such, but tip your head over and very softly scrunch your curls into the towel and just squeeze the water out - the towel fibers will rough up your hair and cause frizz otherwise. The less you touch your hair the better really. I sometimes use a T-shirt for this bit as it's smoother. Scrunch some product into your hair, I use boots curl creme or Umberto Giannini curling jelly and then I wrap my hair up in one of those microfibre turby towels whilst I get dressed etc to protect my curls. Let it out of the towel and let it dry naturally if possible.

Don't use a comb or brush if your hair is prone to frizz, especially once you are out of the shower. I use my fingers to comb my conditioner through in the shower and that's it.

It has taken me years to get to grips with how to get the best out of my curls and have finally found a method that works!

I like umberto gianni curl friends spray. You just spray it on damp hair and scrunch. Also good for a refresh of dry hair.

TIGI Curl Rebound is my saviour. My curls are not uniformly curly - some are ringlets and some merely waves and this encourages the less curly ones to step up and do the right thing.

With the Moroccan oil mousse is it the volumizing mousse or the curl control one? I'm currently on the ashamed of my beauty product hoard thread but always on the look out for new products when it's time for replacements!!

I've tried what feel like every single curl product out there. I recently panic-bought some Moroccan Oil curl cream from the hairdressers and am absolutely converted.

It's fabulous. It gives me glossy curls, no crunch, keeps frizz at bay and isn't heavy or greasy. It's a bit pricey at around £20 but I think it's absolutely worth it.

fancy I have the curl control mousse; will never look back! If there is a downside as such it's only that my favourite shampoo and conditioner (Korres) don't seem to cut the mustard any more, my hair feels a little dry, or else my hair's entering that phase of my life before the rest of me. I mentioned it to my hairdresser who put me onto a Shu Uemura shampoo and conditioner that's "Not expensive". I gulped at the till when each one rang through at £32!!! Clearly I'm paying a lot for my hair cuts! Hahaha

Still to purchase, so for now I'm still wandering around like Brian May on a bad day. I think first try is going to be the Moroccan oil range for curls, and see what works. Will probably buy the rest too, I have no shame in buying too many products! Only thing is though, I've noticed since going curly, after sleeping it's like I've put my finger in a socket! Hopefully the products may help that. Or would a hairnet work???

I love my silk pillowcase. I take it way with me when I travel . Fling it in the washing machine and tumble it as well. I got mine from Lilysilk .

Thanks lady will look for that as my next one to try! Have a bit of a stash of various curly hair products that I'm trying to get through. Tried the Schwarzkopf me see that's for curly hair, didn't like to orange scent but it actually worked really nicely. Also tried the lee Stafford coconut flavour one. Nice smell but too heavy for my hair, made it look kind of greasy and lank but with curls!
Will have to try a silk pillowcase too
