Do you have one make up look for day and one for evening or regularly do it differently?

Can we discuss make up please? Do you have one look for day and one for evening or do you use different eye colours etc daily?

I have a really embarrassing habit that I know is desperately uncool, but I am struggling to break matching my eyeshadow to what I’m wearing. So today I’m wearing a green top and have got a bit of green eyeshadow on, even typing it I’m cringing from embarrassment Blush, but I can’t seem to stop. If I’m wearing black, I’ll wear black eyeliner, brown and its brown eyeliner. I have matching issues I think.

I know browns suit me the best, so I should just wear that every day shouldn’t I? But I’d feel so wrong having brown make up and a black outfit.

Is it more normal to just have one look that you wear daily?

Just so you aren’t imagining me walking round with bright clown make up, it’s all very subtle and no one has ever commented on it. Grin

I have a work look which is the same day in day out. No coloured eyeshadow or eyeliner just highlighter and mascara on eyes but a full face otherwise. I think I keep my eyes plain because I often wear a red lip so it'd look a bit much.
For a night out I look completely different. I go in hard on the contouring which I can't be bothered to do for work and eyeliner etc. Shadow sometimes if I'm doing a smokey eye.

I don't think I have ever matched my make up to my clothes though! I just do what suits my skin and colouring and flatters that

Thanks MrsRon I am going to try to stop doing it, I have always done it and I have no idea why and notice that no one else does. Perhaps I have been walking round looking odd all this time.

Some people have a neutral eyeshadow on top but then run the merest suggestion of coloured eyeshadow under the lower rim. Hard to notice. You could try that instead?

I tend to do a nude all over eyelid, then a colour or dark grey/brown in the crease and a bit under the lower lashes. I would say it is quite hard to notice, unless you really look, with liquid eyeliner in either black or brown.

However, most women I don't think tend to use colour at all and certainly don't match to what they are wearing Blush and stick to neutrals. So perhaps its time to ditch my greens, teals, dark blues etc.

I think I read somewhere that if you are wearing a pink toned blusher, you should wear a pink toned lipstick, and peachy blush with coral lips.
Heavier foundation for me at night, bit of contour, heavier eyes, highlighter along the top of my cheeks. I tend to wear nude colour lipstick no matter if day or night. I sometimes wear a nude eye with a sweep of liquid liner. I wear more shimmery eyes in the summer.

I have a day-time look that I stick to - grey eyeliner (brown makes me look tired, and black is too heavy during the day), black mascara, and then either pink blusher/pink toned lips or bronz-ish blusher/bronz-ish lips. I never wear eyeshadow during the day.

At night, it's foundation (as opposed to BB cream), grey eyeshadow, black eyeliner/mascara and a stronger lip colour. I've never tried contouring. I've got dark brown eyes, and you'd think brown eye make up would suit me, but it doesn't. Grey (or black at night) works far better.

Apologies OP, but I thought colour matching was a bit old fashioned?

I wear an eyeshadow you might like: olive in my martini by Clinique
It is mid brown with gold and green flecks.
I wear during the day lightly and applied with an angled eyeliner brush for evening - applied wet and it lasts a long time.

I have a day time look which is still full foundation/ eye make up etc but I just wear lighter browney/ nude shades from Naked Pallettes on my eyes. During day I skip liner in bottom lid.
I tend to wear the same daytime make up all the time as its a routine and Im used to it and quite speedy at applying .

For a night out , I spend much more time on my eyes, do smokey greys / more winged on the eyeliner , false lashes, dark burgundy lippy etc like MAC media etc

For the day time-school, work and even days off where im just going school I pretty much do the same thing. Foundation, blusher(pinkish), eyebrows (brow zing) and mascara. Lips I just use a moisturiser like a vase line type thing or similar. Used to always wear lip gloss but realised waste ,especially at work as I never got to re apply. I keep this routine as usually out fairly early.
Days when no rush I wear eyeshadow usually a neutral or maybe a day smokey look but no eyeliner so not heavy. But quite made up. Lippy or lip gloss. Favourite is Mac 'please me'
Night Time, I go to town with make up. Full face, the lot. (Not very iften as never go out!).
I have heaps of make up so vary it as much as I can.

Change mine most days! Sometimes v neutral, some days I wear orange or red eyeshadow, or smokey or bright lips
Always eyeliner, that's the only constant
