Combs! So simple but so hard to find

Argh! We bought dd a comb when we were on holiday (very like the last one on this page www.crystalcomb.com/Index.aspx?BrandId=21 and made by Crystal), which is a jolly good comb. Well made, doesn't pull your hair out, decent length teeth etc etc.

I lost my own comb recently and all I have been able to get is some cheap bit of horribleness which feels flimsy, pulls my hair out and is generally nasty. Boots had a better quality one but the teeth are really short.

Where can I find a comb like the one we bought in Malta? The Crystal site requires me to buy a gross of them and that's a few more than I want (well, 143 more than I want).

Where does one buy a decent comb these days?

I live near a naice chemist. They sell that kind of stuff, along with mason and Pearson brushes etc. anything similar near you?

You need an old style chemists shop. An indie with yellowing posters and a pharmacist with pince-nez. They'll stock Bronnley Talc and tar soap.

We have 2 Boots, and one independent chemist which has even worse combs and brushes than Boots. Our nearest city has Boots, Boots, oh, and more Boots.

When I lived in London, it was easy, and one of the best indie chemist's I knew was in New Malden where I had friends. They've moved away too, so I can't even ask them if it's still there.

There seems to be nowhere round here (Devon). I even had a look at Harrods in desperation, but no joy. They've gone downhill since they stopped supplying exotic animals, y'know.

(That's what my paternal grandmother said as she cancelled her account with them some 40 years ago!)

Have you got somewhere like Sally's near you?

(Though I love an old fashioned chemist shop, the type that have Eau de Cologne and prices on those proper sticky labels that don't come off )

No, I have never even heard of Sally's.

I'd love an old fashioned chemist, but sadly it would seem that Boots want to erase them from the face of the earth.

I got a new comb online for DH's stocking, I'll go and check the brand. I tested it on my curly easy to knot hair and it was good!

Sainsbury's do a good wide toothed detangling comb for £1.50 that I am a fan of!

I have a wooden comb from the Body Shop that is fab - wide toothed & doesn't snag.

I'm sure they're all great, but I do want a plain old fashioned one, so the Kent combs on Amazon are the closest. I'd like to be able to actually see them, as there's no real scale to the pic and it might turn out to be a tiny thing for gentlemen fairies or something.
