I'm 5'2" verging on a size 16 can't fucking believe it got enormous norks no idea where they came from I look awful in everything I've tried.

I used to be so slim and stylish, people will be interested in what I wear.

Any ideas?

The Cardigan isn't quite the right colour and maybe should be a jacket... But you get the gist?

I love PhaseEight dresses but i am a bit taller at 5'6". Where have you tried already?

I've never been slim or especially stylish but apart from that I have a lot in common with you OP.

I'm five foot, one and three quarter inches tall, 32GG, definitely a size 16. My daughter's wedding is soon (excited!!!) and I will look fabulous Smile

My top tip: stick to a style /shape you like the most but go for a more wedding-tactic fabric / sparkle. My outfit is proper MOB complete with over-the-top hat.

As PP have asked, what's the budget, what have you tried and hated already, what do you like, what type of wedding is it, does your daughter have any thoughts?

Are you interested in dieting? If you're prepared to give low carbing a go, you could lose a stone in that period of time

Fifties style dress with a bolero jacket in a great fabric. Great hair, make up and a confident smile.

Yes like BIWI says cut out all pasta, bread and rice. Get used to feeling hungry and only eat then to lose weight before the wedding.

Maybe see a personal shopper at somewhere like Debenhams?

Both suggestions are interesting and look better than what I've tried so far. This today

Drowned me, might as well have worn a bin bag. The length was perfect though.

I am interested in dieting but not motivated. Effing amazing isn't it DD's wedding and can't get motivated.

Work long hours, drink too much wine. Need to move more like I used too

OP - that monsoon dress is too shapeless to look good on anyone above a size 10. The blue wrap style Phase 8 dress linked to above would look really good. Add some shape underwear to smooth things out a bit and you'd be perfect. Get a hat, bag and shoes and lots of mascara and you'll be fine!

I love these, very glamorous and I think the width at the shoulder is very plattering with the pencil skirt

St Bustier, for ladies with boobs, the floral ones look really weddingy.

Hi OP, have you tried going onto the EVANS website? I'm finding it really useful as it has a style adviser where you can enter your shape, size, colour preferences etc and they can also create a wee model of you so you can sort of 'see' the product on you.

Give that a go, it might help, they have some really nice dresses on their site too.

Would a fitted dress be the way to go with fab accesories ? If you find something you like but it does not fit properly you could alwsys get it altered. A seamstress might have time to make you something.
As an aside ,have you heard about the 5 2 diet, where you eat norma?ly on five days and less on two days. It is easy to do and you don't have to make special food. There is a support group somewhere on here.

Think of how you'll feel afterwards if you feel really uncomfortable in your clothes and don't want to have your photo taken.

If you cut out carbs and alcohol for five weeks, it would make an amazing difference. You could lose around 1.5 stone and your stomach would be so much flatter.

Get focused, OP. I don't think alcohol is your friend at the moment. Carbs certainly aren't.

You have time to make a real difference. Go shopping tomorrow for food for the week and have your last drink tonight. You will feel so much better if you do.

Do you have a friend or relation who could go shopping with you. If not, buy a couple of the more suitable possibilities on credit card and ask someone at home their honest opinion.

I know it's hard but try not to see what you think are negatives, there will be quite a few there who aren't perfect themselves. Also, the main focus will be on your DD.

As said if you can cut back a little on drinks or food - just a few pounds can help you feel better. Also, if you can pamper yourself a little beforehand, new hair do, new makeup, have nails done or whatever I think that will make you feel better.

If you can sort something out sooner rather than later and settle on it, then you can look forward to what's going to be a great day.
