With the warm weather looming I'd rather not have it on my shoulders and arms. Tia.

Try products that contain urea.

I had it on arms, thighs and bum. As a teenager I got rid of it on my arms with a scouring pad and Nivea. It never came back. I still have it on the backs of my thighs. I've found exfoliating gloves, home- made tendskin, moisturiser and sunshine all help. There are recipes online for tendskin, but basically dissolve a packet of soluble aspirin in half a bottle of distilled witch hazel. Mix with half a bottle of surgical spirit and shake. Apply with a cotton pad 2x a day. You need to shake it before use.

Another vote for cream containing urea (also the best handcream in the world) - if that doesn't work try something with AHA or BHA in (or just use the aspirin recipe above which is essentially doing the same thing without the nice cream attached)

Neostrata Lotion Plus - a body lotion with Glycolic acid. And maybe some glycolic wash as well if you really want to go for it! Exfoliates away all the dead skin/ blocked pores - fab
Have read a Vit d supplement can really help as well

The best thing that I've found is a pair of exfoliating gloves. Every morning in the shower, gloop of shower gel and wash arms with this dont scrub. Be gentle. Mine has improved immeasurably. Not gone but improved 200%

I agree with Dazzling - exfoliating gloves in shower, followed by a rich moisturiser (I use Body Shop Body Butters), not a cure but a v big improvement

Sunshine! Makes a world of difference. Also the Palmers body lotion with AHAs, it smells a bit but does work with regular use.

I use flexitol - it has urea and I've found it very effective.

And sunshine definitely helps

Dermadoctor KP Duty scrub and cream. Then once it had almost gone, Eucerin cream with urea 10%. The Dermadoctor stuff is pricey but it really worked.

Palmers AHA/BHA lotion is good as a maintenance product but it did not get rid of my KP.

I have tried most of the products mentioned here with varying success. KP has been an absolute blight to me at times, I used to try and pick the sharp plugs out of my pores with my nails and had horribly scabby arms as a result. I felt really embarrassed to show my arms and legs.

Nowadays I would say it has 98% cleared up and what remains doesn't bother me. I stopped using shop-bought products and started to exfoliate with a scrub I make myself (olive oil and salt) and using exfoliating gloves. I don't moisturise. My skin is not dry and I assume the moisture comes from within - I eat paleo now which I understand may be a bit extreme just as a kp cure, and my diet now contains lots of fish oils, coconut oil, saturated fats from meat and avocadoes etc. Definitely not a low fat diet.

I got rid of mine a couple of years ago by using the KP Duty stuff. Got it off Amazon and it was pricey but it worked and I have lots left in case it ever comes back.

Oh I forgot to say I take high dose vitamin d3 as well now, which I believe has a lot to do with mine clearing up. KP is known to be better after holidays in the sun and worse in winter so this would make sense.

I find the Lush Buffy bar helps too.

Great thread...had this for 15 yrs now and very little improvement despite trying lots of shop remedies. I'd given up all hope of it ever improving but now I have some new things to try. Thank you everyone x

Daily body brushing, sunshine and bog standard body lotion every day.

mine really improved when i stopped using products with SLS in them. bubble baths ans shampoos etc. now use natural ones from health food shops.

Also increase omega 3 and good oil in your diets.

Occasional use of a hair removal cream dissolves a build up of keratin which can help, but if i use those too often they irritate my skin more

Coconut oil is great. I exfoliate gently then after shower I apply the oil to the area. I would also say avoid using a razor and use Veet cream instead but as its on your arms then don't think that applies!

The flexitol moisturiser for legs is great. It has urea in it, just like the flexitol for feet. But unlike the feet one, it is easy to rub in. A little goes a very long way. I've had KP for years, and this completely gets rid of it. I use it twice a week to keep it at bay.

I would second the eucerin 10% urea. I have tried everything to not
Much success but this really works. Better than flexitol. There was an article about in the style magazine recently which prompted me to try it. In fact as I was applying it this morning i was thinking I should post on mumsnet as to how good it is. Vast improvement. Not cheap, think I paid about £13 online for it. But worth it.
