Purple hair. Am i being ridiculous?

Saw a girl in my hairdresser having her hair dyed purple, a bit like in the pic. I thought it looked really lovely. But obviously she was about 18 and very cool. Now I'm 30 and no granny, but have a sensible job etc. Is it ridiculous to dye my hair purple??

Yes.

Could give you all sorts of "well, depends on your image" guff advice.
But actually, yes is enough!

It's just hair, do what you want. It is likely to affect how you are judged professionally though.

Depends on what you mean by sensible job, I guess?

I'm 36 and regularly dyemy hair crazy colours. You can always change it to something more normal if you don't like it.

well, I wouldn't be brave enough to have purple hair but I have very green eyes and have had plum hair. I liked it.

I've never liked purple hair on anyone. It's a no from me.

Sensible job is only real concern.

Only you know if you can wear that style to work.

Aggh even divided s&b! I've had dyed red hair for years now so it might not turn out anything like I'm imagining but I'm still swaying towards trying it.

I love colorful hair.

I'd be a bit concerned about the Amanda Bynes purple hair thing at the moment, but my job means I need to be aware of that kind of thing!

Just had to google Amanda Bynes Blush that is not the look in going for! Definitely darker & more subtle. Yep definitely subtle purple hair Grin

If you like it, do it! If people can't get past hair colour as an indicator of someone's ability to do their job, then that's their problem. It's one of the reasons I hated working in a corporate job. I was back office but was told my hair (dyed red) didn't reflect the company image FFS.

I no longer work in that industry. I'm a student (well over 40) and haven't had my hair its natural colour for many years. Once the current colour is faded I intend to dye the ends blue/green.

I'm 40 and have very pink hair. If work don't mind then do it. You can always change it if you don't like it.

Are you hoping to dye it yourself? If you do I'd advise using the 'Plum' shade from Directions - If you bleach your hair underneath it'll come out the exact same shade as in your photo (I used to dye my hair that colour when I was 18 and I loved it)

To be honest the colour you've chosen isn't too 'out there' I think you could get away with it Smile

I had British racing green hair when I was 37. I loved it and it looked great with the colours I tend to wear. I'd do it again except that the roots are a mare to deal with. I had a lot of bright colours over the years (including purple) but that was my favourite.

That purple is great, go for it!

Yay mass s&b purple hair dye dance I will not be doing it myself though. Previous nightmare experience resulting in half orange half diarrhoea coloured hair & huge hairdresser bill for 'colour correction '
