Nivea in the blue pot

People always rave about it but is it really any good? And if so why?
Do you put it on your face? As eye cream? What if you're acne prone?
I've always wondered about it and saw it mentioned on another thread about eye cream.

I use it as a night cream and I love it. My skin is dry and dehydrated. I double cleanse, then pat some sunflower oil into face and neck when damp, usually about 8pm. Then just before sleep, I add a thin layer of Nivea. I do find it too thick for day time though.

No one product will work for everyone's skin. If you fancy trying Nivea, you can get a tiny pot for around a quid

I have used Nivea blue pot for nearly twenty years as an under-eye night cream, starting from my mid twenties, when I noticed tiny lines forming under my eyes. Within a few days those lines were gone and I STILL don't have any of those crepey lines under my eyes twenty years later!
I haven't yet used it as an all-over night cream but I've started putting it on my chin at night as I have some lines coming there. I'm hoping it will work it's magic again!!

Sorry, I didn't really answer your actual questions about it! I am acne prone and haven't ever used it anywhere apart from under my eyes so I'm interested to see how it fares on my chin where I do get hormonal spotty humdingers! Am happy to update after a week or so's trial!

I love it. Ditched all the expensive stuff and my skin is better for it. I put it on as a night cream and then don't need to use a moisturiser in the morning as it's so rich.

It's a good moisturiser which shows up why many more modern moisturisers are a waste of money.

If you have oily skin, it may not thank you for the oil.

If you want anti-ageing ingredients such as retinol (which TBH you should in a night cream) it hasn't got them. It can stop your skin being dry, it isn't doing anything for underlying structures so can't prevent lines or wrinkles.

I like taking one of the small pots when I'm travelling rather than packing loads of products.

I do have oily skin so will have to tread carefully. It has iconic status so it must be good or no-one would buy it. I love the idea of my eye lines going!

Apparently tests revealed that the only difference between Nivea and crem de le mer is fragrance-and about 100 quid!

I tried it for a few nights after reading about it on here but ended up with really sore deep under the surface spots. Would not recommend if you're spot prone (which I'm not really anymore). Might try it under the eyes though as need a good anti wrinkle eye cream. The rest is ok from using alpha h but can't use that on eye area

I use it on the dry skin I get on my shins the minute the weather that gets cold.

There doesn't seem to be many retinol creams about these days, whatever happened to RoC? They had tons!

Avene Ystheal, LRP Redermic, Paula's Choice, most things labelled as a night cream will have some retinol in.

Rumour has it RoC didn't put much retinol in their products and got in to trouble with advertising standards.

A moisturiser may help fill out lines and wrinkles that day but it won't do anything to prevent new ones forming and Nivea is definitely not an anti-wrinkle cream in that way. For proper anti-wrinkle you need retinol, acids, spf, anti-oxidants, peptides and niacinamide.

I find it a bit oily for my face but use it on my neck and chest. Love the smell, reminds me of my Granny!

I use it as a night cream. Slather it on so your face is all buttery, go to sleep, wake with baby soft skin.

I have combination skin and it's never given me spots despite being v rich.

I know it doesn't have fancy ingredients but it's just a very deeply moisturising cream, which is useful at this time of year.

May I recommend the tube version - the pots are a bit icky hygiene wise.

I do like it but prefer Astral. Whn I was young and had plastic surgery on my hand, the surgeon recommended Nivea. I used it when younger as a moisturiser and cleanser anyway. I do think astral is a bit lighter (they do a light version too, but I think Nivea does one as well in a tube??). You would not want either of these roducts on acne-fied skin though.

I've started using it at night only after reading another thread and it is fab, however, I do put a layer of Protect and Perfect serum underneath to get a proper anti-aging wallop. My skin does feel very soft and smooth at the mo.

I use it I have acne and find I break out on my chin but it's been the best thing for me as the rest of my face seems to have evened out with out so I'll put up with just a spotty chin. I do wash my face in the morning though as find I look oily otherwise

I use it and love it. Makes my skin much softer than any other cream I've tried. Darn cheap too!

I find the Nivea so soft better for my skin as the Nivea blue one is quite thick & I did seem to break out in a few spots when using it but everyone's different.

Forgot to mention, i think it was at discount uk store (or somewhere like that) that i got the nivea so soft tube for £1.
