Breastfeeding options?

I'm bfing 10wk old DD and so far have moved from maternity jeans to stretchy jersey trousers but have a severe lack of options now.

I'm too small for maternity clothes but too big for my old clothes, especially jeans. I don't really want to spend money on new jeans etc just to last a few months, as hopefully I'll get back to my pre pregnancy size. So I thought leggings with long tops would be a good interim option, but I'm struggling to find tunics/short dresses/long tops that I can bf in. I'm short so thought it would be easy, but there doesn't seem to be much with buttons or a neckline that I could pull down.

Anyone got any suggestions? TIA.

It is tricky. I used to wear a lot of spaghetti strap vests that could be pulled down, under shirts or cardigans, or under a loose t or jumper which I could lift up and pull the top of the vest down. Hth.

Yy to the vest top/top combo. I basically live in leggings/skinny jeggings with long vest top (enough to cover bum) matalan/primark both do the long ones with a slouchy tshirt or jumper cover todo I can pull that top up And the best top down

I do wear h&m nursing vest tops under T-shirts but wouldn't really be comfy doing that with leggings, even if the vest covers my bum. The tops of my thighs really need to be covered if I wear leggings!

Ooh thanks flo, you're good at this! Just trying to get DD to sleep so will look properly later but that's a great start, really appreciate your help.

Primark has some really long vests that come down to at least mid-thigh if you're looking for something tunic-like that you could wear over leggings and under a T-shirt.

Thanks cheddar, I'll have a look in there too.

I'm still at the bump stage, but watching thread with interest as I have a mostly very BF-unfriendly wardrobe (loads and loads of high-necked dresses)

I recently did a clear out and box up of clothes I can't wear during pregnancy, and put a special post-bump box aside which included:

-vest tops and loose t-shirts (that I can combine)
-stretchy tank-style jersey tops/dresses that could be pulled down/to one side
-button-up shirts and dresses
-low-slung loose fitting trousers (I have a few pairs of peg-leg and pyjama-style trousers that hang on the hips).
-a few skirts

Not sure if all of that will work (comments welcome) but hopefully it'll give me something to start with.

I am bf a 10 week old and so far I have successfully used Hush harem trousers which are stretchy jersey material with bf tops from Mama Feels Good. Great company, inspent about £100 therein an order and got four tops and two dresses.

The dresses are a bit weird with a nipple 'peephole' bit so going back but I will def order more.

I can't fit into jeans if I feel even a bit fat so I am always on the lookout for suitable skirts/trouser types

Both times I've bought a cheap pair of jeans a size bigger. Appreciate they won't last long but it was money well spent as I could then wear my normal tops with a vest underneath.

I currently have Next relaxed skinnies which were £26. Makes me feel back to normal after months of maternity jeans.

Yes, maybe one pair of cheaper jeans in a bigger size is worth it to feel more normal again, esp as I need something suitable for dog walking.

Highly recommend Dorothy Perkins jeggings for this stage. And yes to the long line vest under another top combo

Congratulations btw Thanks

Thanks Pinter Smile. Jeggings isn't something I'd thought of, I kind of assume they'll just highlight my rather large thighs, but maybe with a longer top...

I'd buy some jeans in your current size and some blouses with buttons to wear with a vest underneath. I always felt a little more dressed up in a blouse when I was meeting friends or going for lunch (not very often!).

Oh yes, buy some jeans that fit now - I got some cheap New Look ones for about £20 which were invaluable. It was just really annoying to have no jeans that fit because you wear jeans for so many things.

H&m have some cheap long length vests in at the moment with adjustable length straps. They're great as you can cover your bum with them, put the straps at their longest so they easily pull down below boobs and then you can wear a loose top over the top (can be shorter as the vest does the bum covering) and just hoik it up.

Also Zara's seams have a high Lycra content at the mo!

This sounds daft, but it had never occurred to me that I could pull up my top for feeding (rather than down off the shoulder). When a friend pointed that out I realised I could wear more of my usual separates I had in my wardrobe... Certainly has opened up more clothing options!
