Brown skirts - what tights?

Pastabee · 23/10/2012 09:53

I am back from mat leave in 3 weeks and have been through my spare wardrobe looking to see what I've got from pre pregnancy that I can still wear.

I have discovered two gorgeous brown Hobbs skirts I'd forgotten I'd had. I have some nice brown boots that will go well with them but I'm a bit clueless about what colour tights to wear with them.

Any ideas?

No answer I'm afraid but I have just been wondering exact same thing. And wondering what colour tights and shoes/boots to wear with navy dress, so will watch for someone with answers

If I where brown I wear brown patterened tights.

Likewise with navy.

Something like this or this

Navy or dark plum might be nice?

Thank you. I love the links catinwitchyboots and I really like the idea of plum silversixpence.

I remember the days when you couldn't go wrong with black, shiny opaques with everything but thankfully the world has moved on!

I think black opaques go well with everything, and would certainly wear them with navy. They probably go with brown too, but I don't wear brown (since I had my colours done with HoC Seventh ;) )

Tesco's knitted tights are v good this year. I'd go with plum, navy or grey, or even cream cable knit if you're not too chunky...

Plum, navy, grey, perhaps teal with brown.

I'm also looking for tights to wear with a navy knitted dress. Think I'm going to go with plum/ berry (ie a bit redder than plum) or possibly grey for that - unless anyone has any better ideas? Don't want to wear black with it as it's dark navy and the whole effect would be incredibly sombre/ dull.

seventh Yes I think regularly about having my colours done or seeing a style consultant. I know it would be really helpful for me as I dont seem to get it right most of the time. just mot quite plucked up courage to dish out the money

Approx how much does it cost to have colours done? SIL and I have been saying for years we should do this.

I suspect I can afford the consultation but not the entire new wardrobe i'd want afterwards!

BTW have bought knitted navy tights to wear with my new navy Fat Face dress and plum to go with my brown skirts. Thank you. Smile

I agree a colour consultation saves money (am I'm not a HoC representative!) You don't spend money on things that don't suit you, and it makes shopping much quicker too as you don't dither over things that aren't a good colour on you. Worth it, IMO, and I only went along because a friend wanted it done for her bday!

Plum, grape or teal. Or grey for a more understated effect.

That's really interesting about colours saving money. I have fallen out of love with shopping and shop on line now. I can imagine having a good idea of what suits you helping with that.

Can I jump on and ask which tights to wear with this brown dress? It is darker in the flesh.

Was thinking of chocolate sheers - if such a thing exists. Disclaimer I am a trouser girl!

Am gutted I only bought it last week and they have reduced it to £40!

oreocrumbs - I'd take it back and rebuy at the lower price!

That was my first thought, but I bought it online - no idea if there is a shop near me (north east), and my size is out of stock, other wise I would buy it again and send the first one back! Arghhh.
