Don't know if this is right place - underwear for a photo shoot??

A very shy and bashful question... but hoping someone more 'worldly wise' than me can advise!

I have sorted out a (very tasteful) photo shoot as a present for my husband

(I have recently lost a lot of weight but still have no confidence, so my sister suggested something like this as a birthday surprise for my dh as he always wants to take pics of me but I refuse!)

Anyway, the studio (reputable, classy and I have spoken to the actual female photographer) and she has advised me to bring along 4 or 5 different outfit changes... suggesting a man's shirt, nice underwear, a basque, basically whatever I fancy!

I like the burlesque look, corsets, all female and curvy but still covered up, so I ordered a nice corset, a pair of frilly backed pants and some stockings. Something similar to this So tasteful but not prim n proper.

He's a huge footie fan so instead of his shirt I thought I would take his team's top..?

Any other ideas - she suggested starting off with a tasteful/sexy dress if I found going straight to underwear uncomfortable.

Any ideas? I still would like something classic, something 40's 50's - has anyone got any ideas?

I'm a size 10/12, quite small in height and have very short spiky hair.. how about a punk look? A black leather jacket & a black bra under it?

HELP... the shoot is next week Grin

Yes, I may get very drunk beforehand... or perhaps just incredibly brave Wink

Retro swimwear for a 50s pinup look?

This dress has that Forties wholesome tea-dress look (it's a bit short, but if you're not as tall as the model that shouldn't matter).

I think the black leather jacket is a good option.

I would take a man's shirt as well as the footie top -- if you're feeling a bit nervous the top is a good option as it can be tweaked more or less open, can be back-lit to give a silhouette look, and various other things that you can't do with the footie top.

I've done a couple of shoots like this, including one mostly nude. Just relax and focus on the camera and you will soon forget you're not wearing clothes.

I have a really nice shot that everyone loves of me lying on my back with my knees bent, looking back at the camera. I'm wearing knickers and my husband's shirt in the photo, so all the bits are covered but it still looks very sexy. At the last shoot I did, all I took was jewellery - lots of it, and that was a really good look too.

These type of pictures always seem to look best in black and white, rather than in colour, so bear that in mind.

I second What Katie Did, their stuff is lovely! And their customer service is great too.

shoot

Scroll down I like thedark lighting and red basque and scroll to see shot with white shirt. You will probably be more brazen towards the end of the shoot.

So start with confidence boosting oufits and then you can adjust disrobe as you see fit.

Oh and Good Luck and well done on losing the weight.

Ohh thank-you all sooo much!! I was stumped! She sent me a link to her website and she has some amazing shots - I can't ever imagine looking as good as some of her previous clients!

here she is & some of her prior shots - I love the fact I get professional make-up done beforehand! (and the glass of champagne Grin)

Those retro swim wear garments look fab, and the dress from Debenhams, I have one very similar!! :)

yes brookes, white shirt a good idea, Dh doesn't wear shirts though, so will have to buy one! :)

Was thinking lots of pearls, beads, frilly pants and very high heels?

Although totally paranoid about stretch marks post two babies.... also have been strict with myself and have lost 3lb this week... hoping for the same next wk, maybe the thought of getting semi naked in front of others will be enough to stop me reaching for crisps & chocolate this wk!

Shoes are great too! I only have one pair of plain black stilettes, i'm a size 2 feet so maybe some bare foot and a couple in the black shoes.

Also have a pair of hot pink ones.. my sister has a few high sandles I could borrow i'm sure!

Definitely What Katie Did. If I was smaller-busted then I'd be ordering from there every week. Or if you have the money Agent Provocateur.

I like the shoots on the bed with petals I agree the pearls look great.

Also do search for gothic style choker on ebay as that look stands out.

I read somewhere i think it was FYEO that they use a baby oil spritzed with water to get that glowy look don`t worry about marks lighting and airbrushing is used.

in size 2 maybe get one extra pair, or borrow your sisters.

Try out a few look before hand to see what you like

I've done a couple of these and they really do boost your confidence! Outfit-wise, I'd definitely start with a nice dress - a decent photographer will talk you through poses and try them out while you're in the dress so you are a bit more comfortable. You could then try his shirt/football shirt, then depending on your style I found that loose babydoll type outfits photograph very well. Basques (or a full blown corset if you have/can get one) are brilliant - if you have one that laces up properly then a photo taken from behind looking over your shoulder is very sexy IMO.

I'd also consider a nice bra and pants set - but this may be an occasion, depending on your size, where you wear a slightly ill fitting bra. Personally, when I wear a properly supporting bra I have a little, ahem, bulge under it. It's not really a problem under clothes but it wouldn't look so pretty in a photo!

Also, accessories! Be a bit brave if you can - most of my favourite photos involve some sort of accessory. I have one with a corset, fishnets, heels...and a top hat! Looks fab. Another which is in black and white where i am sitting on the ground, leaning back, legs bent slightly, wearing heels and a feather boa. This one is printed in black and white with the photo taken side on and looks like a vintage movie star. We have massive print of it and almost nobody realises it's me.

Thanks for the advice! I think I do have a tophat here somewhere!!! I bought it for a fancey dress party!

Am going to look for nice girly bra and pants set too.

Am worried i'll look a mess.

I have a nice tightish, sexy silvery dress, one shoulder strap on it which I love, so I might take that too.

I can't wait to see the finished product, but am so so nervous!
