Hoping I'm not the only one with this problem and someone will have a bit of advice for me (please!!). Basically the problem is - I'm 47 and my hair has become very dry and split on the the top layer (I don't mean the top of my head, but all around the outside),the hair underneath is fine and not damaged. I currently have it trimmed every 5/6 weeks and although it may be helping it's still dry and splitting. I currently use an Aveda damage repair shampoo and conditioner and try to wash it every other day - I can't leave it any longer as the roots still get a bit greasy and I wake up like Worzel Gummidge . I do colour it as well with Clariol Nice and Easy 24 washes, but someone mentioned on another thread that it can damage hair, so I was wondering if I should change to the colour that only lasts 8 washes, it'll be a pain colouring every week, but if it helps the condition of my hair I don't mind doing it - what do you think? Can anyone recommend any products that I can use that actually work and hopefully condition the hair without making it flat and fine(that's a whole other problem of mine) I don't mind paying a bit extra. I would love to be able to use straighteners occasionally, but I'm paranoid about damaging it even more, so if you now of a really good heat protection spray as well that would be great - thanks. Getting older is CRAP everything starts going wrong !!!
