Need tips on new make up ideas. Picture in profile.

Okay, so pregnancy has not been treating my looks very well and I feel like I look run down a lot.

Does anyone have any tips on make up ideas they think I would suit to give me a bit of a change?

There is a recent picture of me in my profile.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ah you're very pretty (not chatting you up I swears).

Just because it's my fave look, I'm going to recommend what I do- the 50's starlet look (in my dreams but still.. that's what I'm going for). It'd go really well with your hair. For me it's all about the eyes, but if you're on a night out, add the lips in too. Here's what I use, feel free to ignore!

Moisturise etc.

Put your usual base on (ie foundation/concealer etc).
I know loads of people here hate benefit but my new fave thing in the world is erase paste. I have dark circles and it works really well to hide them and you only need a tiny bit so it lasts ages (and it would want to being so expensive), and it stays on all day.

I use neutral eyeshadow (so a really pale beige or off white).
I use revlon matte eyeshadow, the colour is vintage lace.

Then I do big black eyeliner. I use benefit liquid eyeliner but for years I used Rimmel and it worked really well and it's loads cheaper. I do a realllly thin line along the top lash line from inner eye outwards and then thicken it from halfway along towards the outter eye and sweep it up (can be as long/thick as you like). This is fun to practice I find but there are lots of youtube tutorials.

I also use red lippy if I'm heading out, and I think that would look fab with your hair.

If you want a bit of cheek action, I either use a teeny bit of pink blush, or a bit of bronzer but not too much or I'd look like a drag queen and this look is more about being pale (which I am!).

I've waffled.. but yes, it's all about the eyeliner! If you did a roll fringe with it (youtube too! Victory rolls etc) you'd look amazing.

What a lovely dimple :o
I think just blusher and bronzer would perk you up a bit, and a tint of your eyebrows to make them darker and stand out some, a small change to the eyebrows can make a big change to the whole face.
hth :)

Ah, yer gorgeous! Envy I usually try experimenting with colours when I get bored with my make-up. If you feel like you look rundown, maybe try out some warm blush tones and smudge on some soft blue/green/lilac eyeshadows - I like a bloom of colour at the outer corners of my eyes for a casual daytime look.

I realise this makes me sound like a wanker, btw Grin

Would definitely do the 50s look for night time, if you're still making it out to places past 7pm (I am 36 weeks pg and the thought of a night out is but a distant memory).

Jan Thank you. :)
Shock You have just described exactly the way I looked before I got pg! Including the victory rolls!

I may have a try at going back to that look, I have just went off it a little at the moment because I can't wear any of the dresses I used to. :(

Thanks Snapes (love the name btw!) I have never had my eyebrows tinted, I might give that a go. :)

Haha, I thought you had that look about you! It's my fave look and I'm also pregnant, I've been making 50's esque cotton maternity dresses which I wear with stretchy leggings! Maybe I'll give you a lend, haha.

Eyebrows ARE important yes. If you want to do it yourself though use a powder (like a dark brown eyeshadow) rather than a pencil, it's more natural looking.

I would suggest its not about make up
your hair colour just doesnt match your skin colour

go more natural adn you wont look so washed out - you are not blonde - you are a light brown!

Or a few highlights?
Also maybe more lippy less eye? You look great though Smile

As you are very pale, a strawberry blonde or even slightly redder (but not bright red) would look nice on you and works really well with the retro look. Also, some blusher would really perk you up. Something like Illamasqua's Dixie Cream Blusher would be nice, with a less matte foundation.

There really needs to be more retro inspired maternity wear available for those of us who are inept with a sewing machine! If you're small, a friend of mine has a couple of retro style maternity dresses left on her clothing site pinup-parade.com/shop/dresses.htm she's had them on there for a little while so only a couple of sizes left unfortunately.

Try some different eyeliners other than black - maybe navy would give a softer look but still be defined ? afraid that's the limit of my knowledge!

Dora My hair is actually very light blonde not light brown. :)

HavingKittens Some of those dresses are gorgeous! Usually I will stretch to some blusher but it is normally benetint, perhaps I should try Illamasqua's, I am in love with the rest of their make up. :)

Thank you Princess. :) I might try some highlights, I don't think I could handle dying my hair any other colour but blonde right now!

Jan Envy at the fact you make your own clothes.

I also think you could go red or reddish brown and look incredibly glamorous, more 'WOW'.

I agree about a bit of blush. Post pregnancy, concealer, light eye makeup, blush and mascara can keep you from looking completely washed out and will cheer you up if you can make the effort to get yourself 'together' in the morning. Smoky grey eyeliner is softer than black.

I would use a lighter, softer, more pearly coral/pink lipstick and avoid harsh reds or dark reds, which can make a pale face fade into invisibility.

Mathan Thanks but I really cannot dye my hair any other colour. I really would cry. It has taken me a very long time and far too much bloody money to get the black and then the pink out and this is as close to my natural colour I will get for the time being. :(

I have some smoky grey eyeliner here, I'll try that. :)

Thought I would get us back on track Grin

Anyway, I cannot recommend this eyebrow dye enough Eylure

The brown is totally idiot proof and it has made a massive difference to my face - I am pale and blonde too and dyed eyebrows really define my eyes.

It has saved me a fortune.

"your hair looks naff

DoraJarr from my understanding of the thread title the OP was looking for tips, not insults. It's pretty obvious from her photo (esp her leopard print tattoos) that she is into alternative fashion, so suggesting she dyes her hair a natural colour is a waste of time, like suggesting you, yourself, wear something that is 180 degrees from what your personal taste it. You just wouldn't. But I suspect you would take umbridge at someone with different taste to yourself telling you the way you choose to look is naff. There is a big difference between constructive criticism and being rude.

Ok if you cant go darker with your hair (and I would really recommend that, as you do look a bit wan) you deffo need some brightness in your face with some blusher and nice lippy/colored gloss, and as others have said more definition round your eyes with good brows

Bridge I've used that one in black for my lashes before, would be a bit terrified I might end up dying them to dark but will give it a go. :)

HavingKittens So right! I think I love you. :o Plus, I want to grow my natural colour out and dying it darker will only make that look utterly hellish.

Sorry for the hornets' nest I opened. (It's just you have the most gorgeous complexion for reddish hair)

I think your hair is beautiful. The eye make up is totally dominating your look. The grey is clashing with your colouring. I think eyeshadow in taupe with a chocolate brown eyeliner and a chocolate mascara would suit your light velvety colouring. As for lips plum/ berries/ roses in semi matte colours would really acentuate your natural looks. Hope that helps.
