And because I heard about it on here I reserve the right to bore you senseless with every minute detail once I find out.

Please lots of people come along and tell me how much their life has changed for the better since having it done Grin and how they now turn heads wherever they go even if it is a sack, as long as the sack is the right colour Grin

Can't wait. Having it done with House of Colour, anything I need to know?

By the way I've been living as a "Deep Autumn" for the last few weeks since doing the online quiz, and bought a few cheap and cheerful tops and some more Autumny makeup. But I just need to know for sure. Its like a pre-op transexual living as a woman till they have their OP Confused

I had my colours done years ago. I do still follow the rules now (when I remember) but I do wonder if your colours might change over time.

Ooh - excited for you - I am toying with the idea of this too so want to hear how it has changed your life :o

I always thought I was a warm autumn or something like that but now think I may be a soft summer (am olive, dark hair) [irelevant]

I am one of those people who bored everyone to death after doing it last year. Brilliant. Best thing I did. Who doesn't want to spend a couple of hours being taught how to look better, with relatively little effort. I used to wear lots of black, grey, navy, white, and I still do as they're my colours, but now I know which colours to wear in summer or for a night out. And also the make up colours to wear. You will get so much out of it, and shopping will be easier. I ebayed all my mistakes to get funding for a lovely new set of clothes!

phil I have heard that your colours can change over time. In fact, my skin tone has changed a lot since I had first had mine done.

As it happens, I'm still a 'clear and warm' (I think), but others might change more. The colour lady (technical term) had real difficulty deciding if I was clear and warm or clear and cool, and I actually feel I look better in the 'clear' colours than the 'warm' colours, although both are better than 'cool'

I had mine done last saturday and it is ALOT of information to take in in a very short space of time. They give you a book to come away with which shows you your best colours and I have been online shopping ever since trying to inject some colour into my wardrobe.

Luckily most of the colours she suggested are one's I already wear but I'm hoping to add a lot more.

Apparently they are supposed to tell you if gold or silver is best but mine didn't. I'm having a style consultation with a different woman tonight so I'm going to ask her as I believe she also does colourings.

[http://www.prettyyourworld.com/free-quiz.html Quiz]] Sorry for delay!

Re gold/silver - I don't give a shit to be honest, that's the one thing I'm not open minded about, my wedding/engagement ring are the predictable old platinum/diamond combo and I tend to wear silver on my wrists to match, my watch is silver/diamond, round my neck and earrings I am reasonably open minded and tend to go for coloured things with not much silver or gold and I never wear earrings and necklace just one or t'other, so that's cool, but um, yeah, I'm not compromising on what I wear on my hands. That said, I doubt anyone does, and it can't make that much difference to your overall look, whereas I can see why a gold chain or a silver chain in the wrong person might make a difference. Hmm they better not tell me my hands look ill or ashen Angry Grin

If I am a deep autum apparently I can wear both anyway...hmmm interesting!

Hah, Tatty! You put the whammy on me a few weeks ago saying I should embrace my inner easter egg... and I turned out to be a True Spring. It is ALL YOUR FAULT that I am having a total wardrobe and identity crisis. Grin

That said, I think Deep Autumn would give you a lot of options for nice dark serious colours. Which in my case are now on their way out the door.

Warm Spring, that is. And it's not so much easter egg as fruit salad.

Ooh Tatty, how exciting!

I for one can't wait to hear every single detail, and especially keen to see if it receives a Tattyesque stamp of approval!

Bumping this thread for anyone who's waiting to find out if Tatty has to go out and buy coral lipsticks and an aqua pashmina.

Biggest revelation for me was discovering I couldn't wear black - apparently only winters can wear it? I thought everyone suited black! Bit of an issue really, since I do cling to the Greek widow look cos it's 'slimming'. 75% of my wardrobe happens to be black. A friend steadfastly refuses to get her colours done, she says it would be like going on a clothes shopping diet.

My name is TattyDevine, and I am a....

... CLEAR SPRING!!! (aka Bright Spring)

Yep. There were a couple of things about "deep autumn" that were not quite sitting well with me and now I know why. Just wasn't sure if I was deep enough to be a deep autumn, but not warm enough to be a warm autumn. Knew I was a bit warm though. Thought I was too dark in the eyes and hair to be a Spring, though a clever and rather astute poster suggested it to me on the thread that was knocking about around a month ago as a possibility, and she hit the nail on the head. But apparently my eyes aren't so much dark and jewel like and bright - its just that they are brown, like an ambery deep bright brown, now if they were as bright and jewel like but blue, I would have got that, but I was being confused by the fact they were brown. And I felt my hair was too light to be a "deep" anything, even though it is brown (we are talking my natural colour here which is more of a light brown than a mid, with a gold cast)

So I really am pleased, I love my colours. I look really alive in coral, geranium pink, flamingo pink, poppy, oxford blue...bright blue, turquoise, aquamarine, leaf green, kerry green, plus loads more that are great for accents or slightly away from the face.

Its all making sense. I thought I was some kind of Autumn so I've been experimenting with various oranges recently (and there's lots around because its end of summer stock of course) and the coral end were always better than the rusty end so that's why.

Yay!

SO MUCH SHOPPING TO DO, SO LITTLE TIME! Grin

oooh! Congratulations! Bright Spring is such a pretty palette. Do BS's still get black? I can't remember. I think Katy Perry may be a BS but she could be BW too -- hard to say with the amount of slap they put on these slebs, though.

Was I the astute poster??

MAC Crosswires might be a good lipstick for BS. It's recommended for TS on several boards but I found it slightly too pink so I'm thinking it would work better for BS. Check out this BS makeup discussion board.
