Sorry should mind my own business really but here goes-

  1. How often do you get your hair cut?
  2. How long does it take?
  3. Do you always make an appointment and see the same person?
  4. How much does it cost?

If you are interested here are my answers

  1. About every six months
  2. Not sure, 25 minutes without shampoo?
  3. No never, always just walking past and find somewhere that can do it.

1: About every 3 months, although should go every 6 weeks for it to look its best. Luckily, the style I have grows in the same style so looks the same just longer. If you see what I mean!

2: About an hour if I have a cut and blow dry. About 20-30 mins dry cut.

3: Yes. I have to make an appointment otherwise I'd never go! I've only just found another hairdresser after being with a different one for years and had SO many lovely comments about my hair last time she cut it that I vowed to stick with her until one of us die or she loses her fingers Grin

4: £24 for cut & blow. £11 for dry cut - bargain! (I live in a tiny town)

every 2-3 months
about 1.5hrs
£15 (she is a lifelong friend)
Always text her for a date she is free over a 2-3 week period.

I HATE having my hair done, my friend cannot bear silences, talks & talks & talks & talks from the moment i get there, till the moment i leave, repeats herself every time i see her and talks utter utter crap. chain smokes the whole time and tells me stuff about people i dont know, have never met and would not like to meet. She is 40 and into "clubbing" and so i get the stories of her clubbing nights when she was so drunk she cant rememebr anything.

She has anxiety ishoos i think. Sad
But she is cheap and convenient so worth it. (also sweet) also im happy to be a listening ear for her

Kendodd - I love to hear of someone with dreams!

(I'm a hopeless person who's never had a career ambition.)

My hairdresser (a friend) went mobile years ago as she was struggling with childcare. She says it's the best thing she ever did as she enjoys her work so much more now. She worked in a salon from school until about age 24.

She has a steady regular customer base and most of us are happy for her to take the children along to our homes in the school hols etc.

I always recommend her to anyone who asks. I think that's how she gets all her new clients as she never advertises.

Don't necessarily think that a salon is the only way to go - consider networking to get a bit of freelance work!

Good luck!

Ooopsadaisy · 31/05/2011 19:19

Oooh sorry - I meant to add:

My friend says that she is getting busier as the financial situation is making more people cut back on trips to the salon and using mobile (cheaper) hairdressers instead.

Every couple of months.

An hour for a wash cut & blow dry, about twenty minutes for a wet cut if I'm in a hurry.

Yes always with same person - took me ages to find somebody who did a good job so I'm sticking with her.

£25 or £15 for wet cut (+ whatever tip I give)

Kendodd I haven't had a hair cut in over a year. I have long, straight hair in good condition and don't really need much done with it but I could probably go more. I just can't find the time.
If supercuts had an enclosed play area for 2 year old DS, I'd probably go slightly more often... oh yeah, and if it weren't so expensive! Even supercuts now is expensive. I need to find a nice mobile hairdresser like those listed above.
