Some of the information posted on here recently has found it's way on to the Times educational Supplement website without the OP's permission.

Other information has been used to identify a professional that is involved with the child of a parent on here - again without the OP's consent.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU POST.

I have reported both incidents to MNHQ.

I hope they take action.

MEANWHILE - PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

This is a public forum, open to all. It is important to remember that. and to remember that mnhq cannot actually control what happens to the things we type. Whether they've got 'copyright' or whatever - people can still say "look what I saw on mumsnet" and detail it and speculate and take it further.

Whatever you type will be seen by god knows who and you can't control what they do with it. Never forget that this is not a private space!

I see that the TES poster had joined the same day as their first post! Perhaps a troll is watching us - we have had several newbies lately.

We know who is doing it. But even if he was banned from posting on this forum - he would still be able to read it.

Identifying the professional is even more worrying than the TES thread.

But I need this forum. I can't stop posting here :).

So I guess just continue to be aware that this is a public forum. Which actually even comes up on google frequently. So tis really really public.

Indigo - yes this is a public forum and we should be careful about identifying ourselves. But, I think this is worse in a way. Someone is taking info from here and posting it elsewhere for whatever reason. Someone is deliberately watching posts for whatever reason and Wet is rigt to warn us.

I just wanted to say that I was the person involved in the post about the professional and it wasn't a case of me identifying myself or the professional in it.

I have name changed, but there is NO way, absolutely NO way you could identify the professional involved in my case from my post. Neither did I indentify myself.

I have never mentioned who the professional is or where they are based.

In fact even my closest friends wouldn't have known that I was going to see them yesterday.

I cannot see how I was identified and yet this professional contacted me afterwards to say that someone happened to forward the mumsnet post on to her as she might be interested in it. It was someone known to her who knew this was an issue she was interested in.

This is particularly strange as the post did not appear on a random search of google.

So, I think Wet is trying to warn people about some quite off behaviour.

sorry I looked at link and don't get what the problem is??

Report
bubbles22 · 10/11/2010 08:27

I think it is that someone decided to post someone else's problem on a different forum for them.

that would out the OP on here quite easily

you are right 2shoes. No Xref to MN is there.

IndigoBell · 10/11/2010 08:29

Sorry bubbles. You misunderstood me. I am deeply deeply tucked off by this person and his behaviour. And incredibly angry / upset for you.

We all get enough shit in RL. And really really don't need our haven being infilrated by this shit.

I was only saying that unfortunately, one again , we are out of options. Mnhq can't stop him beeing a jerk or stop him from stalking us.

but can't see any link between the linked forum and MN, mn wasn't mentioned at all as far as I could see.
we do have to be careful though. this forum isn't private.

2shoes, there is no explicit link in the TES post but the fact is that someone used this info from the board and then posted it on the TES site. In fact they drew attention to it themselves, so I think it may have been well-intentioned.

Thanks Indigo and cornsilk. It is very, very odd isn't it and it really was the last thing I needed yesterday as it made it sound to the EP like I was doubting her advice when actually I was trying to get the benefit of others' experience.

I think we use this board as a place where we chat to friends about these issues as there is nowhere else and no one else really understands! So, just as professionals would discuss cases to get others experiences, we kind of use it to discuss professionals and their advice too.

At the end of the day, the only person who is going to get it right for our child is US. It is a hell of a responsibility and we are left, as laypeople, trying to be masters fo everythign so we can make informed decision - psychology, educational psychology, physiotherapy, OT, SEN law, you name it, we have to become experts in it.

Where else can we go for this?

It is a lesson learnt. My post was actually pretty innocuous as posts go but someone out there is rounding up info!

There is no obvious connection between sentence one and sentence two in the OP

The OP seems to be suggesting there is a conspiracy were none exists.

Report
bubbles22 · 10/11/2010 09:37

I think there is an obvious connection.

It is that someone is using information gleaned from the board outside the board without contacting the OP invloved Hmm

It might not be the same person but it is odd

Hello DLIguy.

Never seen you around here before.

Are you the villain under a name change?

Your appalling grasp of the English language seems similar....

Welcome, to a highly suspicious and fucked off SN board.
