Off-putting photos on dating sites!

of course there's the obvious ones - in full motor cycle gear.

But why the ones showing them when they're younger?

e.g. 50 year old man (not terrible looking), a few photos, fair enough. Then one - when he's 35 i.e. 15 years ago. Why would I want to see that? Some men even put photos of themselves when they were children Confused.

Sometimes I wonder ...

Still, I guess it saves time ...

Ones that there loads of people in the picture only one up how are you supposed to know which one is them... stupid poses especially selfies in the toilets

ExtraOnTheSide · 18/02/2018 19:41

The selfie in the bathroom is also beyond comprehension. I saw one last week - I could actually see the toilet quite clearly next to him.

I've just been messaged by a guy with one photo of him, one of his dog and three of his car!
The ones where they send you a topless photo of their hairy, man-boobed chests are the absolute pits though. They must think they look gorgeous though. I wouldn't send them photos of my saggy chest!

As a guy that's used dating sites, the women's pictures are equally confusing!

Plenty of pictures of pets (mostly dogs)
Plenty of pictures with snap chat filters - why would I care what you look like as a fawn???
A very surprising number of pictures of women in underwear or bikinis (I'm late 40s, and look for women of a similar age)

It really is all very odd!

I once saw a single picture of a guy with the bunny filter.

My message to him was WTAF ????

He couldn't understand why I was being so mean..

Hmm

Men with filters on photos freak me out. Just why 😞

Or even better, the wedding photo where's he's attempted to cut his bridge. Nice.

Men wearing sunglasses; wearing cycling / ski / climbing helmets; wearing only underpants; groups of men with no indication of who you should be looking at; men downing shots / pints / smoking spliffs or cigarettes; with a woman cut off the photo; with a woman in a flirty pose; holding fish / drugged tiger cubs; bathroom selfies; looking far older than their alleged age; bad teeth; all turn offs!!

Can't they just stand somewhere pleasant in normal clothes not holding a prop in a decent photo taken by a mate??

When I met my now dh on old (10 yrs ago now), in his photo he was posing in his motorbike leathers holding his helmet ooh er and mine was a selfie taken in the kitchen mirror with loads of mess behind me. I didn't realise we'd both committed old profile photo no-nos Grin

Another weird one ... photo of middle aged man next to a woman who I assume is his glamourous young adult daughter (or could it be his younger ex?). Just strange.

A lot of womens photos aren't a lot better. Duck face, caked on make up, muffin top, and that marilyn monroe quote in their profile to boot Grin

When I was doing OLD I was matched with several men who were holding owls in their profile picture.

This led to me and the boyfriend I eventually met through the same website christening a certain type of people "owl holders".

TinselAngel · 18/02/2018 21:20

Oh! And I was matched with a bloke who in his profile picture was holding a drill whilst wearing only a floral patterned mini skirt that he said he'd made himself.

What's the Marilyn Monroe quote??

Report
Vitalogy · 18/02/2018 21:31

I saw one with a mop on his head, literally.
There was a funny description another MN quoted, something like "Dobby's older brother with extra grease and fag ash". Made me chuckle that did.
I don't like the ones where they put pictures of their children.

Owl holders!

Match.com once sent me a "come back! You don't know what you're missing" email spearheaded by a profile of a guy holding a massive fish.

My favourite was a one where the blokes only pic was back view, upside down, doing a somersault, on a snowboard...tho I was secretly quite impressed Grin

When I was OLD a guy messaged me. In one of his photos he had a snake, python I think, around his neck. I gave him feedback and said "I'm not bothered by snakes but a lot of ladies may be and you should remove the photo." He said he thought it was a good photo but saw my point and thanked me. He wasn't my type anyway.

Men holding giant fish.
Men in lycra cycling gear wearing sunglasses. I'm sporty but still hate it.
Topless men.
And the worst...blokes with their children in their profile pictures. Seriously?

@WhiskeySourpuss laughed out loud at the transformer line. Thank you Grin

Men giving the finger in their photo! Stroking a clearly drugged lion/tiger. Football tops. Snapchat filters. Holding a fish. In a group photo with much better looking guys. Pictures with their kids.

One profile picture was of an erect p*nis. I couldn't believe he actually had other photos of his face and clearly thought this was acceptable.
