Decision fatigue...bedroom wallpaper edition!

We're 6 months into a renovation project which has been pretty much non stop since we moved in and with that, home schooling, working full time and lockdown I think I've finally cracked. Everyone was really helpful when I was asking about kitchen colours a while ago and I'm really pleased with it now, but am at the point where I really don't know if I can make another decision.

Sadly the builders don't care about that and are starting on my bedroom next week building a wall in a long thin room to make a separate dressing room and then redecorating. I need to order paint and wallpaper this weekend.

I've attempted a couple of mood boards and these include furniture I've already got so am not totally starting from a blank slate. I would like a feature wall (I think) even though it's not the done thing but I will be picking out the background colours for the paint on the rest of the walls IYSWIM.

I'm just totally stuck with what to go with, any thoughts/comments would be gratefully accepted!

I prefer the first pinky one if that’s any help.

I prefer the pink one too, will it date quickly though do you think? I like what you have chosen, depends how often you decorate I guess.

Is it just the wallpaper we are looking at? They're very different in terms of style. I don't think either go with your rug though.

My vote is for the pinky one though

I think I prefer the pinky one too, although I'm not hugely keen on either. I'd find it a bit busy for a bedroom - I think a larger print would be more relaxing

The palm one is more on trend. I do not like the pink flowers at all. Both are quite busy though.
I like a feature wall.

I'm not a massive fan of both, but then I'm not a wallpaper person. I prefer the green though.

I think they're both too busy for a bedroom too sorry! Prefer the colour pallete of the green, more grown up & calming but the print itself is already a bit "done", hate to say dated as who cares if you love it. Burn the leopard print cushion Grin

I prefer the second one. You could still have a pink accent cushion with that.

Much prefer the pink one - it somehow seems more soothing, the olive green one feels a bit sickly to me (although for both I'd probably chose a wallpaper pattern with smaller/more subtle florals or foliage, but that's personal taste).

I agree. The rug doesn't go with any. My favourite is the last one but without the rug or the leopard print cushion

Wow thanks everyone. I already have the bed and the chair and the rug (which seems to be a bit of a problem!)

I think the reason I was thinking about wallpaper is because we’re in a very bland 90s house that’s built to match a 70s estate so it has absolutely zero character. It’s all straight walls, lowish ceilings bland skirting and doors and even when its painted I’m worried it’s going to look a bit meh!

The first wallpaper is £185 a roll (I’d need two) so definitely want to be sure about it!

Keep what you have and work with it. Find a different wallpaper. I am a massive fan of wallpaper and use it a lot but that price is crazy gif a very average pattern IMO. Sorry OP, I know you need to make a quick decision

Crazy “for”

I really like the colours in the first pinky wallpaper, but if you already have the chair, rug and bed there must be other (cheaper!) wallpapers that combine the mostly White, Black and Grey of your furniture with some brighter tones to liven things up a bit. I'd link the sort of wallpaper I would chose but it tends to be £10-20 a roll Wilko/Dunhelm type stuff not the designer £185 sort (but if the rest of your furniture/home is very high end, maybe it needs to be that to fit).

Can you post a close up of the wallpaper and people can maybe suggest alternatives

Report
Yellownotblue · 04/03/2021 21:10

I think both wallpapers are too busy, sorry.

How about this as an alternative?

This has a similar vibe and colour palette but is far more calming

I prefer a bigger print. I find the two patterns very busy

Order some paint from farrow and ball called cinder rose, buy some bottle green linen bedding from John Lewis and grab a pink or cream throw and a some crazy cushions..

Add some house plants and plant holders form Oliver Bonas and you are all sorted.

Save yourself getting bored of the wallpaper in 6 months and always having to have plain bedding.

I think given you are in a rush and tired you will regret either of those, given a choice I'd also say the pinky one 👍
