If it was likely to sell quickly, I'd reject his offer on the basis it wasn't a serious one in the first place. Who knows what kind of piss taking crap her would pull through the process.

I'm so glad you've said that! That's just what I was thinking!
It's not the first one to fuck us about either!! All in 2 weeks of being on the market Angry

I agree with Harry potter. Leave your house on the market and continue with viewings.

No, you talk to your wife about it, THEN make the offer....

HarryPottersMagicWand · 21/03/2017 22:11

Go with what you feel then. What a joke! I'd be fuming and make it very clear to the EAs for them to pass on. Has the wife seen it?

Oh we've had a mare with them from the start, with EA and these buyers, they came on the second day we was on the market, literally measuring up for their furniture completely fell in love. EA rings them the next day for feedback 'think it might be to small' two days later they ring with a ridiculous offer, we declined Day or two later phones back with another daft offer we declined, meanwhile plenty of viewings one lady puts offer in we accept, make an offer on the house we want, it's accepted 15 mins later our buyers pulled out because of 'parking' (we have a double drive a perfectly uncrowded road and an island opposite which people park on) EA ten tells us they're banning her because 'she's a pest' this all comes after we've cancelled other viewings on their advise Angry
Few days goes by and the original offer couple ring up for a second viewing (surely second viewings come before offers)
He basically spends the whole time making up sob stories about being self employed blah blah blah blah! EA rings them for feedback to be told 'we are still thinking' few days later they ring up with 'this is not an offer but do you think they'd except X amount' we said no
Then comes yesterday with an offer £500 more than we rejected, we've give in we just can't be arsed with it anymore so we accepted to be told 'I'll speak to my wife' ohhhhh my fucking goddddd I hope you got all that because I'm raging! I don't even imagine it makes sense to anyone but me Blush

Oh, it makes sense alright. I'd be tempted to fuck the EA off as well.

I've tied! We are locked into 8 weeks contract even though we specifically asked her before we signed contract 'are we stuck in a contract' she said no just 30 days written notice, low and behold slyly written into the contract was a minimum term AngryAngry ( another EA went through the contract for me and she and a fellow EA missed the minimum term at first it was that slyly put in there)
Oh I give up now, it's caused that much stress already

Are you locked into only using one EA? If not, use a second one.

Report
momma1701 · 21/03/2017 23:44

Yep they've done us over there too, also something I've tried and once again minimum term before this can be done
The other EA (who went through the contract for me) said one good thing that can come out of it is that they know they will sell it that's why theyre so determined to keep hold of it, but this does not make me feel better Angry

Well, they have about 6 weeks left to sell it for you.
My last EA was a God send. She did everything for us to help make things run smoothly.
Our solicitor was unfortunately shit though.

momma1701 · 22/03/2017 09:08

I'm tempted to just say 'forget it well stay where we are' we haven't even looked at solicitors yet, another mind field to condend with

Sound identical to a 'buyer' we had, he strung us along for 8 weeks til we found out he couldn't get a mortgage due to the self employed status. Are you in the East Midlands?

Report
CountMagnus · 22/03/2017 09:23

If the guy that has offered is self employed, has he already got a mortgage in principle sorted? That could be a load of hassle as well.

Report
momma1701 · 22/03/2017 09:33

No I'm in the north, apparently they've already spoke to his mortgage adviser but that still doesn't give me much hope as he's been on about borrowing money from family and withdrawing premium bonds!??
So we've said we don't want it marketing at STC until all surveys are back and we have a mortgage approval after the last woman dropping out and losing us second viewings Angry

He sounds like a cheeky fecker who's going to mess you around, and no doubt try to gazunder you later on in the process.

Why are you even considering letting this clown waste more of your time?? He's planning to finance it from family loans and premium bonds Hmm

Keep it on the market, getting viewers in

Doesn't sound like a serious offer at all if they then need to discuss it with their wife

Report
momma1701 · 22/03/2017 11:22

Basically we already put an offer on our dream house before the other lady pulled out so now we feel where a bit stuck! We only want that other house and fear, like you would, it's going to be sold to someone else

I never liked this idiot from day dot, always trying to be alpha male, bragging about stupid things like his 'massive' tele Hmm

Nightmare. Think I'd prefer to stay clear of this couple! It was yesterday so I assume his wife has okayed it overnight? If she hasn't then ditch them. If she has, still accept viewings and offers until they can prove they've got the funds and are at survey stage. I'm guessing you may have to cease viewings once survey done as that would be at their cost. But in the interim you are keeping options open. The EA should only be showing people around who are able to proceed. Insist the EA does this.

I feel the EA isn't pushing our house now because of these buyers, we've had constant viewings up until Monday and now nada Hmm
Well I'd assume before putting in your final offer you'd have spoke to your wife baring in mind we waited a day to get back to them as well, still no word which is infuriating me as I can't even offer on the house we want
According to our EA they've spoke to their mortgage adviser so they know they do have funds
I wouldn't dream of offering on a house to have it accepted then contemplate the offer??

Think you need to remind the EA that they work for you, and need to follow your instructions. I'd be reminding them that they've got their 8 weeks and then you'll be looking for a new agent.

You need to be firm with these people, otherwise they will walk over you. I don't mean shouty, or aggressive (not suggesting that you would, but don't want you to misinterpret what I mean) but you do need to be firm, and assertive and provide clear expectations of what you want them to do and when you want it done by.

I'm hoping I can find a breach in contract on their end, but it isn't likely!
I feel like I'm putting them out when I ring up questioning anything and the having to speak to them, the other agents (which we want to swap to and are selling the house we want to buy) have been sooo helpful, I'm not stupid I know it's because they want to sell our house aswell, but she has told me to ring whenever if I want advice about anything and she's told me a lot of flaws in our marketing which I do agree with but feel like I can't tell our EA with out them getting pissy with me Confused
