We are trying to find good reliable builders in the Wimbledon area to undertake a house extension. Does anyone have any good recommendations please?

Sorry forgot to say, if anyone has experience in what this project is likely to cost roughly would appreciate that. The extension is to be single story and would measure 6 x 7 meters with flat roof, 3 skylights and concrete floor with underfloor heating. Bifold doors to back opening onto garden 4.5 meters wide.
thanks in advance!

We just had an extension done by these guys...

They were really excellent, worked really hard, finished early and slightly under budget. They weren't the cheapest quote we got but a lot cheaper than the most expensive.

We were very happy with the work ethic, they were tidy and reliable and turned up when they said they would!!

I can also recommend our team of builders - they are based in Richmond, I know they are working on a house extension in Wimbledon at the moment, so next door to you. If you're interested, I can give you their contact details for you to get in touch. Good luck with your project!

Hi, when did you want to start? Our builders are really good but I don't want to give out their details until mid July as I made that mistake with our last builders and they were a nightmare at the end because they had already started another job I had recommended them for shock.

Whatever you do don't use a company called Qubitat. They are rip off merchants and criminals. Maciek Kramarcz took £30k of my money as a deposit and then apparently spent it on another job. Then he went into voluntary liquidation because he owed the taxman over £100k. This is the second time he has gone into voluntary liquidation in 3 years. Maciek said he was really sorry and that he would make the £30k back on my build project by charging me only cost price. Alas this has not happened. 9 months later we have gone way over the contracted amount (by about £30k!) and there is no sign of my money. He lies and lies but has charm. Beware. This man thinks it's ok to run a company for a few years without paying tax and stealing client money. He has ruined my life. I would hate for someone else to experience my situation and lose £30k. Do not use a company called Qubitat. He has two, one called Qubitat Construction which has gone into liquidiation and the other called Qubitat Interiors run by his wife which still trades. Avoid like the plague.

My advice after my experience is pay no deposit, pay for materials upfront and only pay for labour after you're satisfied. This can be done in weekly stages. Then nobody is out of pocket and the worst that can happen is you sack your builders.

Hi there,

I would like to recommend Porters Development (formerly Venford Construction). The easiest way to prove that I would recommend them is because I keep getting them in to do more work for me. It started with an extension but they have done more and more for me since then. No job it too small.

When I first got Adrian over to quote for the job, I made it expressly clear that we had a hard deadline as my parents were arriving for a long visit. It was quite tight but they worked every Saturday to made sure they finished on time.

Their attention to detail was amazing and their patience with me and my ever changing mind was admirable. At one point the foreman built us a temporary stud wall so that we could get a real idea of the space we had allowed for our tiny bathroom. I had been really concerned and he did it simply to reassure me.

I felt that every query, change and dispute (we had a few issues with our neighbours) was handled with professionalism and had a satisfactory outcome.

In the end we got exactly what we wanted.

Please do feel free to PM me if you need more info.

Could i recommend McHayle Building & Property Maintenance - they can provide references and they are competitive.
