How long did you stay in hosp with elective caesarean

2 years ago I stayed 2 nights. They offered for me to go home in 24 hours but I wanted to stay another night as I didn't feel on top of the pain and wanted the meds.
I'm booked in this Friday for my second elective. This time I'm planning to drag myself up and out in 24 hours to get back to my other children. The midwife said as long as I'm ok with just paracetamol/ibrupofen the next morning then I can go but if you're still needing morphine then you're not ready.

Had an elective c section in September, was home within 24 hours! It was lovely. All the women on my ward who had electives were discharged within 24 hours if no complications. Good luck!!

Elective section done privately on Thurs morning, left on Mon morning. I lost a lot of blood and baby had jaundice so had to stay for treatment.

28 hours - section at 1pm, left at 5pm the following day (I have other children though and was desperate to get home). This was a few months ago.

In hindsight, another night in hospital might have been sensible as I was in a fair amount of pain that first night home, but it was my third section so I think more painful than a first one might be).

I had an ELCS 9 weeks ago. DS was born at midday on the Monday, we were discharged the Tuesday evening.

My planned section (second baby as first was emergency with similar circumstances predicted) was at 6am and I was discharged the following day at 10am.

I would have been home in 24 hours but baby needed time in SCBU so three nights in total.

3 nights but that wasn’t the NHS. I think 2 nights is ideal, I was itching to get out of there on day 2 but there’s no way I could have gone home after 24 hours even with no complications and not needing any additional pain relief.

2 nights and 2 days but could have gone after one really.
There were plenty of beds and staff and it was lovely and they were happy for me to stay so I did. (Plus got Yorkshire pudding and an extra shot of morphine to see me on my way so was very happy.)
You'll know OP so just see how it goes.

5 nights with dc1, 4 with dc2. I actually requested an extra night with dc1 though as I didn't want to leave before feeding was established.

I had mine in Germany - up to 7 nights in an ensuite twin room were available following elective sections, and I was told off for changing nappies on day 3 as I should have buzzed for a nurse to do that - my job was to recover and be gentle mobile without even lifting the baby except to breastfeed... DC was in a semicircular cot attached to my bed enabling me to easily reach him and effectively cosleep safely.

I self discharged on day 4 because I missed dc1, to the midwife's surprise as she thought I should be fully tested before going home to a small toddler.

Massive contrast to the NHS where I was booted out before I could even stand up straight, a couple of hours after the drains and catheter were removed, 48 hours after an emergency caesarean involving being taken back into the operating theatre several hours after the caesarean to correct internal bleeding and 3 blood transfusions. I was glad to go home because the ward was like a cross between a sauna and a peak hour tube train and nobody came when I buzzed even though the drains and UV drip would have made it impossible to get to DD in her old fashioned separate cit on wheels even if I hadn't just had abdominal surgery...

3 nights 4 days for me. Had extra complications on delivery and DD had too much water on her chest. Was supposed to go home after 24hrs but honestly don't think I would have been happy to do that, 2 nights 3 days would have been perfect, enough time to get plenty of oromorph in my system!

I had mine also in Germany 20 years ago and stayed one week in a private room.I was only entitled to a two bed room but was given the most beautiful private room in the hospital because I had worked on the maternity ward for 8 years before having DS .It was a warm summer and have wonderful memories of myself and my new baby lying in bed with the window open at night .Just the two of us and the feeling of utter joy and marvel at my beautiful baby boy.I was lucky.

I had twins 4 months ago and stayed 2 nights. I was eager to get home for my toddler but I wish I'd stay another night just for the electronic bed!

4 nights here (Thursday to Monday afternoon) but could have been out Saturday afternoon if they hadn't have cocked up with my care by not giving me pain relief on time overnight after the operation as that led to a cascade of further issues... 😠

I’m having an ELCS on Thursday, I’ve been told the hospital encourages enhanced recovery which involves getting out of bed after 6 hours, and home in 24 hours. I had an emergency section 2 years ago and was in 48 hours so I was a bit shocked by this, but I have heard very positive things in my birth group about enhanced recovery.
