Trousers - over the bump or under the bump?

Hi,
Im 15 weeks pregnant and have a very senstive bump. Today has been really sore with the band of my jeans sitting right in the middle of bump, so I would love any advice or recommendations for maternity trousers - under v over the bump opinions and good places to buy from would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Whatever's most comfy for you.

Maternity jeans/leggings etc usually went over my bumps

I found that underbump ones just fell down or were uncomfortably tight.
Overbump were made of soft fabric and where much better.

I can't stand under the bump trousers, I find over the bump so much more comfortable and supportive. I've been wearing DP maternity jeans, and leggings and jersey trousers from H&M. I'll probably keep wearing them after the birth for a few weeks too as I'm having a section and they won't irritate the wound.

Over is best for me. Under fall down apart from some jersey hareem pants.

I hated under the bump jeans. All my trousers were over the bump though didn't wear any maternity clothes until about 28 weeks. I put a hair band around the button of my jeans then through the button hole. Gives you a bit more room.

Congratulations I wish you an easy and smooth pregnancy Smile

Thank you for such quick replies :) I appreciate your opinions.

This will be my first order/shop for maternity clothing so not sure which will be comfiest yet and as we have no maternity shops nearby it means ordering online and I cant afford to order loads of things and just return those that dont work as postage over here is ridiculous.

I hated over the bump in my first pregnancy but, bizarrely, found them fine in my second and third. Try a variety and see which you prefer. Even if you don't like the trousers, just try them on to see how the bump bit feels.

I'm not a fan of under the bump trousers or jeans, too much chance of flashing your butt crack when you sit down! Confused

I found jeans in general uncomfy. The waistband dug into my bump regardless. I preferred leggings with long tops/dress and had a v comfy over bump denim skirt that I think was from h and m.

I can't wear any of my under bump jeans or trousers. they just dig in to the bottom of bump and or fall down. am living in over bump leggings trousers and tights from h&m.

Ah, cross post! I take it from the "over here" postage comment you're not in the uk? That might impact. Over the bump comfy but also very warm!

I never found any maternity trousers that fitted. They all kept falling down. In the end, I just wore normal (non maternity) leggings under the bump with tunic tops or dresses. They were perfect. Only trouble is now that whenever I wear leggings it reminds me of being pregnant.

I love my over the bump trousers. I'll be sad going back to normal ones!
H&M I've found to be good value, and surprisingly George from asda jeans.

Overbump. Just bought some from ASOS and Debenhams

Most people prefer over the bump, it's much more supportive as your bump gets bigger (plus less likely to fall down).

Good places to buy from:
Expensive - seraphine (lovely. Often on eBay if you're ok wit second hand)
Mid range - next. Jojomamanbebe for smart work clothes.
Cheaper - new look, asos.

I lived in harem pants in the summer. They are nice and stretchy and you can wear them over or under. They are also really cheap but not very warm!

Next over the bump skinny (but stretchy) jeans for me have been my favourite and aren't too expensive £26-28 and they often have them in their sale section too. I really didn't get on with Gap over the bump jeans even though loads of people seemed to love them, I couldn't get them to stay up and they didn't look very nice. Topshop over the bump look nice and probably the most fashionable (if you care?) but faded and shrank after a few washes.

Get them in the size you currently wear and they should fit fine.

Another vote for over the bump!

Totally don't understand under the bump naternity jeans, totally pointless and uncomfortable.

Definitely over bump. I have 1 pair of each and the under bump ones are forever falling down! If you don't mind second hand, give eBay a try. I got both of mine from there for a fraction of the cost of new ones (£7 for one pair, £13 for the other) and both have barely been worn. Good luck finding something that works for you.

Over the bump! I got some great maternity leggings from M&S, maternity chinos from Zalando (European company which might be handy depending where you are?) and maternity jeans from Next.

Having said that, I have some under the bump pyjamas from Next and they're really comfy. Soft waistband and my bump feels freeeee!
