Okay 22 weeks. Had period type pains maybe 3/4 times to day but I though nothing if it. Have been dribbling all day as well . bout 30 minutes ago I was standing making tea and had a massive gush of white mucus and I mean loads enough to soak PJ bottoms and when I put my hand on outside of bottoms it was pure white thick mucus. And was really warm. Slightly freaked out as I'm only 22 weeks and this amount of mucus can't be good. Has anyone any advice at all pls ?

Phone maternity triage now. The number will be in your notes. You need to be assessed by soneone qualified in person

I'm trying not to worry my partner as he freaks out quite a bit. It had no smell at all (smelled it to see if possibly thrush) just so scared x

You really need to go and get checked out, don't wait until morning. Call the maternity suite and tell them you are coming in.

Agree with Gobbolino, phone up or take yourself into the maternity hospital now.

Your priority has to be up and the baby.

In the nicest possible way, tell him to get a grip. You could end up with very serious problems in future if you have a child whom you don't get medical attention for in case he freaks out

Go into the toilet now - away from him - and phone the hospital. See what they say - I am very sure they will want to admit you. If you're well enough, drive yourself. If not, get a taxi. Ignore him totally if he is flapping and can't pull himself together to help

Just tell him it's probably fine but you need to be on the safe side, you need to get checked now.

Phoned the midwife there she has told me to put a pad on and see how I go if I'm still wet in an hour or so to go up as it could be my waters. But that mucus changes so much in pregnancy it simply could just be mucus. So worried fs and just realized its 12 o'clock and I have no pads fs x

Wear an old pair of knickers and a make shift pad (kitchen roll etc). But don't feel silly going to the maternity unit sooner than in an hour if you still aren't sure - if there is a problem, the sooner you get assistance (eg drugs to stop labour) the better

Good luck Flowers

Thanks I'll do that. Just petrified after having miscarriages before this is the furthest I've got. X

I think you definitely should follow the advice you've been given here about getting it checked out, you need to be sure. But I just wanted to let you know that I had something quite similar at about 30 weeks - gush of fluid, soaked through trousers, I completely panicked - but it did turn out to be just a really big quantity of mucus, everything was fine, baby went beyond term in the end. So get it checked, but try not to panic too much as it may well be nothing.

Anno just trying to keep dp content as when he freaks out he stresses me out so trying to stay as calm as possible. closer to fifty than twenty I'vefollowed your advice with the kitchen roll so will leave it a while and check hoping it was just mucus x

Did you go to maternity?

hope all is ok, I had a similar gush a few times in pregnancy from 19 weeks. My consultant could see pocket s of fluid when he examined me but confirmed not my waters and was just a pregnancy thing that some people get.

I didn't have pain with it though, so definitely call triage again and get checked out.

Love, get checked out to be on the safe side...however...I've had crazy heavy discharge since about 20 weeks...sometimes if I've been sitting a while or just got out of bed it can feel like quite a gush. Completely normal. Boke!

Op did you get checked? I don't want to worry you as everything is probably fine. But I had this with my first dc and turned out my waters was going slowly at 24 weeks luckily as they caught it early they managed to stop it and I ended up going till 37 1/2 wks with him. So always worth that trip if your not sure. Hope everything's ok

^ I have no advice other than what other posters have said BUT please do not dispose of the pads. When you do get to see the midwives you should be there now imho take them with you as they can teat them for amniotic fluid. If I was you id be up there already x hope you're okay x good luck x

Hi guys sorry only getting on now I went up last night and they didn't check anything just saw that I wasn't leaking anymore and put it down to increased cm so still none the wiser. I'm still pretty sore and restless but just relaxing to see if pain eases. They genuinely seemed unconcerned and unwilling to investigate anything even when I asked if they could check internally they refused x

Go back and say you're unhappy and want a second opinion - failing that go to a&e. Something maybe up as you shouldn't be having this amount of pain for this long... Just my opinion but id rather be up there and be wrong then not and have my intuition be right. Don't worry about annoying anyone either... Xx

Had you just had a bath when this happened, op. Sometimes bath water pools then gushes out.

I might be stating the obvious but I'm really hoping it is something like that rather than anything more sinister. Must be terrifying. Thanks

No hadn't had a bath at all its was thick white mucus and was loads of it. I'm actually going for a bath now to see if the pain eases x
