Could this be it??!

I'm 40+1 (FTM). Had a sweep yesterday at around 10am. Immediately started getting period pain and low back pain. I stayed on my feet pretty much all day. The pain lasted until the evening when I laid down to watch telly and then fell asleep. I had absolutely no pain all night, and woke up a few times thinking it probably didn't work.

But now I'm say here in bed (6am) and the period pain has suddenly come back! Not feeling any contractions but the pain is coming in waves. Also, just went to the loo because it felt like I really needed a poo (sorry) and lots of brownish/mucousy discharge.... I'm guessing that's a show???

What do you think??

After 2 false starts last week, I don't want to get my hopes up but this feels promising!!

(DP already at work hence my speculation working it's way online...Wink)

That's a show. Mine was like period pain in waves. Could still be a while yet but I rang the hospital and when the pains got closer, went in. Your dh may make his way home Grin

I reckon it's the start :) there are apps for timing contractions, the waves of period pain you are describing are contractions :)

Think I might be over-analysing again!!

Became completely overwhelmed with tiredness after writing that post. Fell asleep for a few hours and now the pain is much less.

Have lost a bit more show though.

Think I may as well start my day and just see what happens.

Stoppy/starty is pretty confusing!!!

This is EXACTLY how my labour started! Sweep at about 5pm on the Friday. Braxton Hicks/Period Pain until about midnight when I had a bath and they went (on advice of midwife) got some sleep and had a few contractions overnight and then they ramped up over the course of the Saturday morning. HOwever they were never regular of that painful and the delivery ward said it was false labour right up until I had to call an ambulance at 7.30pm. DS was born at 8.59pm on the Saturday.

So, sounds like it could be it. My advice is if you've been having period pains regularly for 12 hours - even if they aren't excruciatingly painful or regular then go in. Unless you're up for a home birth!

Good luck!

Oooh! That's reassurring then!! I've had a wonder around town with a few twinges, BH and just general period pain. Bought a cake Blush (obviously, a cake a day post due date is probably medicinal) and now sat at home eating it.

Come on baby!!!!!

I had a sweep on Friday and had period cramps with contractions for 12 hours then nothing and since then every evening and night lost a lot of mucus plug (bloody show)

Still no baby! If she is not going to be here by Thursday morning they will induce me!

My early labour pains were all over the place. My waters went on the Friday midnight and I went in and got checked. They said if I hadn't gone into natural labour by the Sunday I'd go in for an induction.

Through the Saturday and into the night I was really uncomfortable but nothing consistent. I was up a few times on the Saturday night but didn't even wake DP because it wasn't anything to write home about IYKWIM.

Went into triage on Sunday morning for induction. Got checked. Turned out I was already 4cm dilated. So just because they're easing off then coming back doesn't mean it's not on it's way. Wink

Yes it was my 40 week sweep and it is my second pregnancy.

My son is taking a nap now (he is 13 month old) once he wakes up I will go and get checked out as my lady parts down there are very swollen. Woke up early this morning with period type cramps. Lasted for an hour and came every 8 min. Then nothing through out the day I have been getting them and sometimes they are so painful and sharp it does not feel normal.

Oh and I live in America so we only have 1 pm right now Grin (just in case you are wondering why my son is taking a nap)

But fed up. All the pains, mild contractions and show have ended up going nowhere.

Just getting really mild BH now, roughly 10 mins apart.

Sad

My braxton hicks were never regular like that belly. I said the same, I thought it was just BH but it really wasn't, just a very long slow build up to the proper contractions! Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you! I can't sleep because of heart burn and hip pain so I'm literally just sat downstairs watching telly over analysing every sensation!! It's enough to drive you mental!!

Any news bellyrub? I've been having a few pains today but nothing significant, one made me wince a bit earlier but still nothing that's making me think baby will be here anytime soon. Hopefully things are getting going though, don't mind a slow build up as long as something is happening!!???

Bellyrub1980 · 28/10/2014 14:43

No baby yet! Symptoms are very variable, a bit of period pain here, a few BH there, twinges around my waist. Nothing consistent or regular now :( Just off to but a gym ball!!

Thank you both! I've had more show today, so I'm hoping that means things are progressing! Got the gym ball now so gonna get bouncing!!

Elle, are you taking raspberry leaf capsules? I very nearly bought some today but too cynical about that kind of thing to pay a tenner!

I've had quite a few people recommend a glass of wine. I've been T Total throughout this pregnancy and the bottle of wine is staring at me saying "I could be the answer to all your problems"

Shut up wine!!!

I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea but prob not enough. been bouncing on ball and going for walks. back pain has stopped now but still getting a few twinges. I'm seeing the Midwife Friday when I'll be 39 weeks - hoping she'll do some prodding about which might encourage baby to get moving. failing that maybe some fireworks at the weekend might help Grin
