OMG can't believe I am up at this time drinking red wine! What have you all fed your Lo's so far. I started with stewed pureed pears - went down a treat, then organic carrots - no likey, now baby rice - she likes it. Thinking of parsnip next.

Good evening Rumple. I saw The Vagina Monologues this evening and it was fantastic. Very very funny and made you think also and even had you shouting out rude words. Highly recomend it if you can get to see it.
Ive fed Edward mashed nana, pureed pear, sunshine orange breakfast and Cow & Gate which he spat straight back out again
Swizzler I hope your evening out is a little more successful than mine. Texted dh when I was coming home to receive a text back saying ds3 had been sick 4 times in various different places around the flat and had been through all his jamas and was now heaving violently where he has nothing left in his poor little tummy. Hes fast asleep in is bed now.
Sorry for long post
Welcome erm the new lady erm anyway off to bed now. Got a feeling its gonna be a long night.
Oh and just a quick question is everyone elses lo's sleeping through now? Cause mine still isnt night x

What on earth is sunshine orange gingeme?
Thought you weren't supposed to feed mashed banas until they were 6 months 'cos it's too lumpy? Is it okay then? Am debating G&T or bed?

Lainey- welcome my LO was born on 7th October-girl (Samantha) weighed 8lb 12oz. So again close to your LO.

Wow, I missed out on lots last night. I just wish I could keep my eyes open late enough to stay up and chat. LO goes to bed at 6.30pm and wakes up at approx 6.30am. So I go to bed at around 9.30pm just to get enough sleep! Seem to be really tired lately as feeling like a single parent looking after TWO babies!! (DP seems to have reverted back to a child since his accident!)

majormoo- sorry to hear about all your bad news. Boots should apologise. Hope your cold is getting better.

gingeme-hope your DS3 is feeling better?

As for solids- LO seems to be not enjoying them and refuses the teatime one! She just has 4x8oz bottles a day. HV said not to worry just yet.

............the Bumbo is great!

I was right it was a long night. Ds3 is back to his lovely chatty self this morning and keeps asking for'brek'. Must be starving poor love. He finaly fell asleep about4am but thats only because Daddy got into bed with him.
Rumple sunshine breakfast is one of Cow&Gates breakfast's. I started ds3 on it as his first taster of solids and he loved it too. Ive only given lo mashed nana twice but both times he scoffed it down
Caught lo watching his hands this morning. He was smiling away at them and thinking to himself'ooh look what Ive found'. Makes a change from him trying to stuff them in his mouth.
Well off to have my brek now. Will try to pop back later.

Great thread title, Rumpel you rock! And welcome Lainey!

dd had her 16 week jabs on Monday and I also got her weighed, she is 14lb exactly. I was thinking she was getting pretty heavy (my arms and back are feeling it) but at the same time as us a 5 week old boy was being weighed and he was already 12lb5oz!

Pmoore I sympathise as I have an early riser too. Nina does an explosive poo around 5:30am/6 and then she is up for the day. It was so loud this morning that we heard it on the monitor! dh rolled over and said "there she blows".

dd is not ready for weaning yet but I will be watching your posts with interest to see how it is going.

Aft' All,

Sat up 'til 12.30am this morning. I was hyper after shopping all day and needed to relax. Couldn't sleep though. I think that I haven't slept properly for so long now that I just can't at the moment. LO sleeps through but I am such a naff sleeper -have been for years.

Sat A in her Bumbo on the dining room table this morning to give her her baby rice - it was so funny. She looks like the Queen sitting on her throne She loves the rice and shark attacks the spoon whilst guiding my hand towards her mouth. Still no sign of her rolling over though, apart from in the bath

Does anyone know how Emzickle is? I keep thinking about her as she hasn't been on for ages and she was really down - I hope she is ok.

Gingeme - I love the theatre but I prefer musicals. My DH and I came down to London for our honeymoon and went to see The Lion King - it was amazing, brought tears to my eyes.

Have a good day all - I am going to relax today as am feeling 'hung over' from lack of sleep.

Hello ladies.

I realise I'll probably get flamed for this, but I am tough, so it doesn't bother me.

I just wanted to say that if there were mums on this thread who didn't feel their babies were ready for food, there's no need to give it to them till they're quite a bit older. I know that often women feel pressured into weaning early and I wanted to lend a bit of support to those who weren't ready, as I know how "in-yer-face" it can get as soon as your baby hits four months.

Right, as you were.

Haha I've found you at last!!
My lo not starting weaning yet is only 16 weeks. He loves his bumbo seat tho - nice to view the world from a different angle I think.

majormoo can't believe what boots did

I keep wondering about emzickle too, might put a link on old thread to this one in case she's looking for us.

Well my friend gave birth on her bathroom floor yesterday!!!!!! Can't believe it. Her DH had gone to take their DS to nursery, she was set up with a tens machine cos she was having twinges when suddenly the pain was really immense and waters broke. She phoned 999 then DH got back home and the head just appeared! Mum+baby are fine, didn't even need to go to hosp as she didn;t damage herself as no pushing was required. She must've really bricked it tho being on her own and all. A little boy btw and will be in same school yr as my little boy. Gotta go pick dd up from playgroup now. See ya

I thought you werent advised to wean before 6 months anyway these days Confused

Report
Rumpel · 22/02/2007 15:22

Dave n dave - between 4 - 6 months depending on your baby. I don't think any of us would push solids on our Lo's unless they were ready though - so thanks anyway.

Um, no, official guidance is to wait until 6 months. It has been official UK guidance for years, and WHO advice for even longer.

Report
BarbieLovesKen · 22/02/2007 15:54

Are you sure?? always heard (and read) 4 - 6 months...

Report
NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 15:57

Yes, I'm really sure! It used to be 4-6 months, as of a few years ago, but current best practice, as recommended by the NHS and pretty much everyone else, is to wait until 6 months. Here is an NHS direct page on it.

Report
IntergalacticDave · 22/02/2007 15:57

HVs in this country are so behind the times it's untrue.

WHO guidelines say 6 months.

It's far easier after 6 monmths anyway. You can given them nearly everything

Do you want to take this discussion over to the section titled: weaning? If any of us October mums want to join you over there then we can make that decision. Thanks.

taffy1 what a clever woman your friend is. So glad her and her baby are fine.
Rumpel Ive been to loads of musicals too. Id love to see The Lion KIng. The last one I went to see was Chicago with Marti Pellow in it. YUM!
Lo's been quite sleepy today. Which is unusual as he usualy just cat naps in the day. Wonder if hes storing up his energy for another growing spurt.
Lainey! Hello Lainey are you still there?

My son is 17 weeks and we'll be doing BLW. I see no benefit in weaning just yet. there are allergies in both sides so imo far too risky to wean before 17 weeks.

Each to their own though, every baby is different.

Benbyb- Having a rough time this week SW wise! I didn't go yesterday no excuse really- I just didn't!! Definitely back on track for next week though!

BTW- sorry October 06 mums if I shouldn't have suggested the weaning topic be moved, I just imagined that it would start a whole debate and fill up our thread.

hello laineylia.
pmoore, both osteo's are brilliant. james has got a bit more experience though. the tel no. is 01892521134. the address is 159 st johns st tunbridge wells. i'm not sure how long it would take to get an appointment, if it's long see if you can get on the cancellation list and tell the receptionist to tell james you're a friend of his friend martha.
we had a fab night with the nurofen last night. gave it to her at 4am after she screamed and screamed and didn't wake until 6am when she decided that was it. but, i think she was still drowsy as for the first time ever she went back to sleep again twice, only waking at 7.30-i felt v lively today.

pmoore i totally agree with you and as rumpel says, none of us are trying to ram solids down our babys throats before they're ready.
