Thanks, OYBBK.

From the previous thread: Whomever dunnit hardly did a professional job of it.

Yeah. One of the things that's astonished me reading up about the Litvinenko killing is I hadn't realised it took them two attempts, even with something as deadly as polonium. The attackers were murderous but... deeply incompetent.

In a week or so, Litvinenko was to testify before a Spanish prosecutor. Hence, it appeared, the Kremlin’s frantic efforts to kill him. The men from Moscow were carrying what Kovtun confessed to a friend was “a very expensive poison”.
[...]
Lugovoi and Kovtun, however, were rubbish assassins. The quality of Moscow’s hired killers had slipped since the glory days of the KGB. Their first attempt, in a Grosvenor Street boardroom, had not worked. They had lured Litvinenko to a business meeting, where – the radiation stain later showed – they had tipped polonium into his cup or glass. But Litvinenko did not touch his drink. As of 1 November 2006, he was stubbornly alive.

Poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal (part 2)

Did I read somewhere, not here, that the lab the agent was mixed in in UK had been found? I presumed it was going onto say the perp brought it in to UK in it's 2 parts then mixed it here. Maybe I misread the article. And now I cant find it. Will go have another hunt. Its not so easy to find the articles as it was.

I had wondered, after the sudden death of the last Brit scientist to id Litvinenko's poison, the scientists might be cautious about publicly stating such a fact for their own protection.

I think Yulia was encouraged to talk to Viktoria for a short period of time so UK couldnt be accused of keeping her away from family. My over creative brain says that Viktoria called Yulia a few different names/terms of indearment and I wondered if there were any hidden meanings in them.

Its all very strange and the links to Skripal and Cambridge Analytica which he was said to be investigating for Russian ties??!! Oooerrr, thanks for link whoever posted.

Bloody disgraceful treatment of the animals.

I'd not heard anything about the lab Betty, it wasn't in the previous thread.

Nothing more seems to have been said about CA in this context. Wylie did allege to the Parliamebtary committee that his predecessor who died may have been poisoned.

The attackers were murderous.... But incompetent

Maybe they use their 'expendables' on these jobs.

Plenty of reasons for Boris to create a smokescreen for the week the revelations about Tories paying Cambridge Analytica loadsa-money to create scandals for them was about to emerge. Good way to deflect and attention away from him and his cronies and keep (yawn) Russia in the spotlight (tiresome tactic).

From The Guardian:

*Conservative party donors are among the investors in the company that spawned the election consultancy at the centre of a storm about use of data from Facebook.

Filings for SCL Group, which is at the top of a web of companies linked to Cambridge Analytica, show that since its conception in 2005 its shareholders and officers have included a wine millionaire who has given more than £700,000 to the party, a former Conservative MP, and a peer who was a business minister under David Cameron.

On Wednesday, Theresa May faced questions in the House of Commons over Tory links to the company. *

lest we forget.

I'm sure this week that I have been assured that social media had no influence on the referendum.

on the other hand

Social media is totally responsible for the increase of violent street crime in London.

Binary NAs are mixed just prior or on application.

Know I have heard somewhere of two part stuff that is sprayed like agent orange, but in two applications, with time between. Have been searching but can't find on web. Anyone got a Jane's subscription?

pest I don't think it's a good idea to ask that on a public forum.

BTW why are people confused about both Skiprals succumbing at the same time? If, it was a nerve agent, there's your answer. Nothing will depend on body mass, age, metabolism etc.

Frank Gardner, BBC Security Coirrespondent, just said on Radio4 that Yulia is not in good shape and she and her father will suffer from the effects of what has been done to them for the rest of their lives.

And what now? They can't go back to the house, the 'assasin(s)' might still be out there. Do they now need 24hr protection?

Report
OutwiththeOutCrowd · 10/04/2018 08:29

I hope Yulia at least gets some peace and privacy. It’s going to be difficult with her face being so familiar from photos in the media.

Report
peridito · 10/04/2018 08:47

And what will her support network be ?

No mum ,v sick dad ,distant cousin .

Oh gosh I bet she'll be tested and monitored exhaustively .

Sad

I wonder if Yulia will end up with a new identity. Poor lass, I can't imagine what she is going through.

She is in a safe house somewhere apparently. I have read suggestions that they will need to be resettled elsewhere. Presumably with new identities. But I suspect it will be hard to hide them.

Sergei already has British citizenship, of course.
