Morning Flybudies

I am far too excited about meeting up with some of the Northern Gals this morning.

Lunch is pack
Camera is at the ready
Cat has been fed
Bags are packed

Woohoo

Also hoovered downstairs

Dyls You wont know yourself regarding the new bed. I woke up to find DS1 climbing in with us this morning and I said to him "back to sleep it is the middle of the night. Oh it wasnt it was 7am - I had sleep right through and by this point both boys were tucked up with us! SO Superkingsized beds rock.

Morning Mad and Dyl.

I am at your new beds (though sounds like they are much needed lol).

Mad I wish I was able to make it to York to meet up . Have a lovely day (and have a Latte for me ).

Thanks for saying I was brave when my car broke down. I kept thinking, 'wow I am handling this well, any minute now I'm going to have hysterics' LOL!
Actually it could have been much worse. Poor DS was massively sick about 1hr after we set off (on a 4 hr journey!), so I was pulling off the motorway heading into the services when the clutch broke (or something ) and suddenly the car had no power! Thank goodness we were able to cruise into the services (with me and DC shouting 'come on car. come on car!' LOL).
The AA came and towed the car away . It took them 7 hrs to get it back to Newcastle . Thankfully my stepdad was able to come and collect and take us back to mums. Fantastic dh drove all the way down and brought us home later. I am tempted to set fire to that car!!

Have a good day all!

What a fantastic dh and thank goodness for AA and also ds's premonition. I have not been on a motorway for 6 years - I'm terrified of something like that happening, but as you have said you just HAVE to keep calm for kids. You must be very very glad to be home now.

We slept in our old mini-bed last night, it ws actually extremely comfortable (kids were in ours as a treat)

Is it Northern meet6 up today then? Have fun

I spent all day yesterday sick/asleep, leaving dd1 in charge of meals, as dp had to go out.

I daren't eat yet today, but feel much better.

I'm trying t get the dds to help with some basic housework, before we have to go out this afternoon. It is easier just to do it myself tbh.

I think I need to join you all. I have the weekend free fro the first time in months adn really need to clean/dejunk entire house and I've done virtually nothing so far

I need to get on top of it as 1) the state of my house is really getting me down 2) it's so bad I am embarrassed to invite people here 3)I work almost full time and need to get on top of it so I can stay on top of it

I've been to the flylady website and in theory it sounds good but does it really work in the long term? Is it sustainable?

If you go back to the beginning of this year you might find some useful fly-user threads to give you a better idea. I don't think it is a quick fix, more an attitude to de-cluttering cleaning which takes a while to implement (says she hopefully).

I do find a few routines a bit more engrained but I am bit of ditherer and not fulltime worker. I think you just have to try it - basically bit-sized chunks of housework which accumulate to create tidier house.

Think there is a bit about three black bags in each room, keep, chuck and giveaway. Then clean room but only one room a day or you'll be surrounded by more mess than you started with. And not to get too bogged down with recycling, ebay because the most important thing is just to get clutter OUT.

swanriver, thanks for advice. I think thats why I am feeling overwhelmed as I've set myself the challenge of doing it all in a weekend! Instead I am MN distracting myself

Welcome on board Winnie Swan Is right, babysteps are the way t go for long term results really. It helps you set up a rutine that keeps on top of everything, but decluttering needs to be done first

I am almost ready to try eating now I feel much better.

afternoon all
welcome winnie tis not a quick fix as such, but it helps me to get a starting point. i spent a fortnight doing my flat and was amazed at the results. i still want to re-organise my kitchen, it is decluttered, but would like to re-arrange the cupborads as i think i have a btter way of doing things

so need to do that but time is so hard to find- might do it in a bit actually as ds is wii-ing and dd is at her dads, so no excuse not to i guess

have just saved myself a parking fine by deciding to take rubbis out and nip the shopping bags back into boot of the car. ticket wardens were just on way down our road having a feild day. its a single yellow line road where everyone in the surrounding flats normally parks, the traffic wardens normally leave us as we have literally no parking where i live, but it appears we have 2 new ones who arent so understanding. luckily they were 2 cars up from my car when i spotted them so i got in quick and moved it a 5 minutes walk away where no parking restrictions.

winnie - welcome,
I agree that it is about state of mind aside from everything else, if you feel it is insurmountable then it is hard to start a task, if you have your timer and you are only doing 10-15 minutes then hey! Even I can do 15 minutes

Definately starting with the babysteps - I also think that flylady says it takes 1 month to create a new habit so things like shining your sink every night won't necessarily feel like a habit for a while - but you will feel so great coming down in the morning to a sparkly kitchen.

I slip off the wagon and the house clutters up again, but I can calmly return to the flyroutines and I know that in a few days the house is better.

Thank you for being so welcoming guys

I am feeling very pleased with myself as I have decluttered kitchen and cleaned kitchen from cobwebs down to mopping the floor and every surface in between. Have added 'stainless steel cleaner' to my shopping list too. Have thrown out microwave (well, put in outhouse to offer to dd'd friend) as I never bought it and never wanted it and it just sits in corner doing nothing but collecting piles of stuff! I have also cleaned and tidied my dinning room too. I am about to get the laundry in and then I am having a bath. I feel disgusting. Plan to do pantry, airing cupboard and bathroom tomorrow

Look forward to never running out of pants or toilet papar

Welcome Winnie - I work too (though only 5hrs/day term time) and find the flylady routines invaluable!

Dyl - Thats pants that you have so little parking, esp with a LO!

Jas - hope you are feeling better.

Ruby - Bet you feel better after your day out. When's the wedding?

Hi to everyone else.

mad we couldn't find you anywhere we waited at one entrance and Wendy was at the other, I'm so so sorry I feel awful and they wouldn't let us put an announcement out, apparently a missing flylady isn't an emergency.

Grouchy and I left the museum at about 4-ish, kept our eye out for you all day but no joy (grouchy even approached a few people who we though might be you). I hope that you and the boys had a good day nonetheless and you aren't too or and that you managed to get your afternoon tea in betty's

The red-head screaming harridan with the angelic looking blonde monster was me by the way. In hindsight it would probably have been a good idea to swap phone numbers but it just never crossed my addled little brain. [grovel]

But the other three of you met up at least?

Next time you meet up, I'll come unless everyone has spontaneously combusted for sheer efficiency, as I have a friend in Hexham I've been longing to visit for ages, and ds2 keeps asking about Natural Railway Museum in York...(as in Nat His Museum)

Anyway, we've done lots of bicycling today with kids and just came back from swimming, despite losing my car key again before setting off (it was in my handbag after I hour search).

Kitchen decluttered and tidied for guests tomorrow, think I am panicking again.

But halfterm has been lovely.
Ruby mine were running around outside briefly in socks and teeshirts. I think we feel cold not they. I think earache might possibly be caused by cold wind. Glad you were allowed to escape and boost economy.
Quick decision on car Scatty! What model?
