Hate our Cordless Dyson

So we've finally decided that we don't like the cordless Dyson. It doesn't seem powerful or sucky enough. We also cant vacuum the whole house in one go. We clean filter etc regularly too.

Has anyone switched from the Dyson to another make & found it better?

We actually don't mind if it's not cordless as we will keep the Dyson for the stairs & cars etc.

Thanks in advance!

I had the cordless dyson and thought it was awful. I’d had corded dyson before that and always thought they were worth the money. I changed to a gtech. I’ve had 2 now and wouldn’t be without it.

In my experience cordless vacuums are only useful if you use them every single day - because they don’t tend to work properly when there’s a lot of mess to clean which makes sense as a marketing ploy as otherwise you wouldn’t need to buy other companies’ vacuums! I feel my favourite vacuum is still the dyson animal.

We got one too and while I find the suction to be good it’s bloody hopeless with pet hair. I hoover everyday and any small fluff balls just get caught in the rotating brush so literally every few minutes I have to take it out and clear it. Pita.

I love my Dyson V8 animal. It seems to hoover the whole, fairly large floor space house in one charge, and so much more convenient than a corded one. I don't have pets though.

Ring up customer service and explain the issue- they are good ime and send you new bits depending on the problem or replace it.

We've had a cordless Dyson as our only vac for several years and love it, it does a great job with cat hair and we can do the whole house on one charge (house isn't very big though). Before that we had a corded cylinder Miele which was excellent (till DH burnt the motor out by hoovering up damp bicarb following a milk spill). Miele always used to rate very well in Which magazine.

I hated ours and spoke to customer services about it. They sent us a replacement power pack and now it's amazing. We'd had it for about 20 months by this stage.

I find it easier to do quick once overs daily, rather than lug the big corded one out of the cupboard, plug it in etc. Our Dyson lives in a corner of the kitchen, is unobtrusive and easy and light.
As a result my downstairs floors are cleaned much more regularly.
It is also easier to do the stairs, but yeah, not possible to do the house in one charge.

I absolutely love mine, my house is not that large though and we don't have any pets. I hardly use my full size vacuum any more.

Hmmm see. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Or my carpets are crap. If it's not on Max it's not powerful enough. So that drains the battery quicker.

Today I could only get the main bedroom done, the office & the landing upstairs. Couldn't do the boys bedroom or stairs. No chance of doing downstairs.

Downstairs is wooden flooring but I don't feel it picks up much dust. I tend to use a broom & sweep all of downstairs then steam mop. Only really Hoover the rug & door mats etc oh & play room. Only live in a 3 bed semi.

I didn't like it much when it was new so don't think it's tired. It gets cleaned quite thorough. No pets but my long hair gets everywhere 🙈

On balance I like ours, it's a DC59 animal (which was later renamed V6), but I admit it has pros and cons. Plus side is it's really light so it's no hassle taking up our (terrible) stairs and less effort to clean hard floors than pushing a massive upright around, and it cleans well enough IMHO. Downside is I can't vacuum if it's raining outdoors because I can't empty the blooming tiny bin when it fills up, it's kind of hard to push over carpet for some reason, and it's another gadget I have to remember to charge.

If our house was less cluttered I'd get a robot vacuum though.

I have the old dc59 , it is ok but suction isn't great , end up chasing round crumbs sometimes.
OP which version of dyson do you have, And others who have said theirs is crap which ones ? I thought the newer ludicrously expensive one was meant to have much better suction.

Love ours, and got rid of the corded Dyson within a few weeks of getting it. Permanently use it on max power and can do entire floor of 4 bed house on single charge.

I didn't like ours as a hoover , it's great as a handheld for tiny bits / stairs . We like to keep a cordless vac upstairs to save lugging the big one up so we replaced the dyson with a Bosch Ahtlet It was quite pricey and is a bit of a fiddle if you want to use the attachments but as a straight hoover for doing floors of all types it's fabulous and very quiet .

We've just got the shark powered liftaway. Brilliant. Had a corded Dyson many years ago (and loved it) but gave it to my mum when we got a Vax (bloody awful faffy fucker)

I honestly think if people are finding the suction bad then they are faulty and they should ring customer service. Mine is so powerful it can lift a rug!
