September Flegdgling Fliers - Part 2!

Here is the second part of the thread ladies which is much needed because we chat fly so much Wink

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here )

Humungous thanks to our previous thread leader Blue for navigating us all through the August school holidays...and for doing it so consistently and well!!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. Some of us (SC stares at feet) -are even embarrassingly stuck at decluttering stage after two years

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

All newcomers welcome!

Thanks for the new thread ellie and for taking over while SC is away. Was just about to post on the old one when I noticed that it was already up to 1000 messages, so thought I'd better check in Good Housekeeping to see whether a new one had been started - and ta da, there it was. Grin

Busy day here today; DS has his weekly speech therapy session this morning, then I have five of DD2's classmates here for English before lunch. A friend of DD1's is coming for lunch and I'm teaching another English lesson this afternoon - this time for kindergarten children, although only one of the three can make it today so it shouldn't be too taxing.

My three main tasks for this morning are to:

  • finish making flashcards

  • open up the dining room table so all six children will have room at the English lesson (It took me about 10 minutes to open it last week; I'm such a weakling! It would take DH two minutes, but unfortunately I forgot to ask him before he went to work.)

  • make lasagne

plus as much of my morning routine as I have time for. I have to pick up DS in two hours, so had better get on.

Ellie I know I've been AWOL but all that bastards and fecking made my me feel right at home eyes pop out in shock Grin a huge congratulations at the booking if a cleaner! Well done you!! It is my firm belief that everyone should have one at least once a week especially full time workers. I have had one for years. It means my ironing gets done and everything gets mopped and hoovered and dusted at least once a week! Genius Grin
cheerful spice rub sounds delicious. Can I have recipe?
mad ah yes it was photo day for ds yesterday but thanks heaven for uniforms I just asked him to keep his jumper on. Grin
blue grrr at ikea! I feel your pain. We have a unit bout 5 years ago and when we found it missing feet we peed and moaned but never did anything about it! Hope you get it sorted
feetheart mmm beautiful quince jelly. I used to have a quince tree and intended to do jelly when ds came along 5 years ago and garden became so overgrown quince has been swallowed up! Enjoy

well, alright, will commit myself to ordinary fishcakes and salad, swiss chard on side, and pineapple sponge.

oh yes, and need to commit myself to taking to children to swimming lessons again (thank you Nettie) I really can't face any more "Slots" in the diary...but I suppose I should.

Thanks for the new thread Ellie

Glad you had a great weekend Nettle

My day yesterday didn't exactly go as planned. I was a naughty flyer and ended up doing a major sorting session instead of flying. Once i'd tidied out the unit in the lounge and thrown away mountains of junk, from even pre-dd, I decided that all my uni folders could go in there. Then I decided to sort the under stairs study area where my folders were. Now however the understairs area looks like a paper explosion. I complain that I have no storage but actually its just that I fill up storage and then never venture near it again so have to find somewhere new. So now I am emptying storage units under the stair that are full of junk over 3 years old. DH is happy though as he sees is as a major step forward as we get a usable study area with storage and a mjor decluttering. It will take me the rest of the week to sort though. Why do I start these things?? Sad

Todays list

  • DD to school Done
  • Post letter Done
  • Tidy kitchen that didn't do before bed last night blush
  • Sort out two drawers of filing cabinet
  • Go to visit school with a job vacancy
  • Pick up dd and take to library to return overdue books
  • Go to visit Brownies to see if the volunteer roles suits me before handing in the forms and signing myself up
  • complete volunteering forms
  • job appication
  • finish hoovering downstairs - only managed lounge and hall yesterday
  • clean out car
  • mission and yesterday mission as didn't get chance to do it
  • 15 minutes in lounge

OK hope the sun is shining and you all have a good day. Back later

DD at home today and tomorrow after being sick last night. Felt bit better this morning, has downed apple juice and dry toast at regular intervals so far and has just embarked on toast and honey. All staying put and she says she is hungry so hopefully on the mend.
However I am VERY frustrated being stuck at home as Autumn Fayre preparations are in full swing (its this Sunday) and I am having to delegate, which is probably a 'good thing'. DD and I will do as much 'putting stuff together' as possible tomorrow as she will be better but not able to go back to school. In meantime I am emailing/texting instructions left, right and centre and probably annoying people :)

Flying on back burner again though have stripped all the beds, washed bedding and hung it all out to dry in the SUNSHINE. I am also back in a summer dress :o

Will attempt washing up and re-making beds inbetween calls/texts/emails. Should do some work too but its looking unlikely Hmm

Hi everyone! We're back. Had fabulous couple of gloriously sunny days - went back to same hotel in Ger where dd rode her favourite Hafflinger - took in a wildlife park on the way back which was great (although having trogged around all the animals grouped by continent (over 40 different species at least) dd said her favourite thing was some bloke dressed up in a koala costume Confused). Return journey not so great - got stuck in horrendous traffic on the ring with dd complaining about her stomach ... discovered her playing on her ds last night two hours after I had put her to bed ... so not surprised she is feeling less than chipper. Although, to be fair, we all feel a bit bleuuggh today so perhaps we have picked up a bug or something. I hope not, loads to get done now in the short week left.

Anyway, enough of all that, THANK YOU Ellie for thread-sitting so beautifully and for starting new thread. 1,024 posts in under a month is not half bad!!! Grin

Off to read through and catch up ... back as soon as I can ....
