What can I stick up my bum tonight to keep the worms in?

Since the nasty doctor won't prescribe me anything for threadworms what would you recommend to prevent them coming out?

Was thinking gigantic dollop of Vaseline but then began to wonder of there might be something more toxic I could use.

I've heard Garlic is good, but I don't think I could cope with a whole clove up there for the entire night.

you can get the Ovex from the chemist unless there's a medical reason you can't be prescribed it (like pregnancy etc.)?

yes vaseline works wonders

ew not garlic. DH once taped some to a wart on his thumb and gave himself really nasty burns. that would hurt on your bumb hole.

vaseline is probably your best bet.

OMG Hobb, cannot believe you are 39 weeks - seems such a short time ago you were posting in early pregnancy.

Sorry about the wriggly things, no advice, just nosey as to who had them

Garlic burn to bottom, nice.

Bumb, like plumb?

noonar, I have read about raw carrot getting rid of the eggs. Don't spose you have the recipe?

6 (!) weeks of extra cleanliness could break the cycle.

there's some herbal remedy but I'm not sure if you can take that in pregnancy either. Something to do with grapefruit seed?

ROFL I just read the first two posts on the thread to dh and he's having a meltdown. He never had threadworm as a kid (no siblings) and lives in mortal fear of catching them.

Do they come out in the dark? Could you leave the light on and sleep with your bum in the air?

Report
kalo12 · 29/06/2009 21:53

Report
noonar · 29/06/2009 21:56

Excellent, a bit of a plan.

The point to this is two fold;

Don't want to have to wash bedlinen every day so would be good if they didn't come out to play. Secondly, do not like thought of them being anywhere external so I figured if I put something blocking their exit I wouldn't have to think about that.

Luckily I was on the phone this morning when I discovered the first one. It distracted me from having hysterics. I said "oh bollocks I've got worms, got to go, bye!"

Last time I had them I managed to reverse into someone's shiny Audi in my panic to get to the pharmacy.

oh no, when they come out, they slime some stuff on your skin which makes the skin intensely itchy

with wimmins

madlentileater · 29/06/2009 21:59

surely you need them to come out?
better out than in!
then scrupulous hand washing and nail brushing!

Thanks giraffes...I did try the torch under the duvet thing last time. NHS Direct man had had enough of me running through my 'how to cope' plan with him I think, and sort of gave up when I suggested the torch idea. He kindly sent me some pamphlets though.

Bet you're glad you asked kalo, eh?

noonar, will Google, thank you.
