Help!!! Fungal nail!!!

I have a fungal nail infection in my big toe, had it for about 2 years now. I went to the doctor about a year ago, he prescribed me some liquid varnish thing but that didn't work, he basically prescribed it to me on the basis that he knew it wouldn't work but didn't want to give me oral meds. So about 1/2 months ago I started treating it with tea tree oil, my nail has now completely fallen off (which is apparently a good thing as my new nail will now grow in nice and healthy, hopefully) but I can still see lots of yellow fungus on the nail bed, so my question is, do I just leave the fungus and continue to treat it with tea tree oil or do I need to get the fungus removed?

Any infmormation would be great, basically the doctor wasn't interested and I just want to be able to wear pretty sandals again

Why wouldn't they give you oral meds? My some had them. Surely if they will prescribe to a child?!?!

The toe will grow back with fungus, go back to your doctor they should send off a sample to confirm infection then prescribe meds that 12weeks to clear it

He told me they didn't like to give them out due liver damage. Basically he wasn't interested... Didn't send off any samples or anything. Told me it was a fungal nail infection (which I already knew obviously) and sent me on my way with the liquid varnish stuff

I had this for years n tried all sorts but now it's just vanished n my nails are fine so not sure really what happened n why it went away

I've heard Vicks Vapor rub is good for fungal nails, I read it in a medical website!

I had the same thing on all my toenails for years. I tried all sorts but eventually swallowed my pride and went to my GP. She was great took a sample sent it off. Sent me to have blood tests and prescribed me the oral tablets. My nails were hideous and after a few weeks it started clearing. Best thing I've done but there are liver side effects as you mentioned if on it continuously.

Yes ask for a different doctor and ask for a sample to be sent to the lab.

I had the same issue, fungal toe nail for two years and Dr refused to prescribe oral meds for the same reason as yours.

I eventually found that the Boots own brand fungal nail treatment absolutely did the trick, took a while though but might be worth a try if you haven't already....
