Anyone want to join me on a diet overhaul?

I've decided it's time to address my diet - but not by going on a 'diet'.
I am a healthy weight, exercise loads, in pretty good shape, have a metabolic age ten years younger than I am etc so weight is NOT a factor.

However I eat way too much crap. I have a seriously sweet tooth and aside from a healthy breakfast and occasionally healthy lunch I eat pretty badly. I snack all the time and everything is sugar based pretty much. I know it's hampering my exercise and I could be in much better all round condition if I changed my habits.
However I've come to the conclusion that unless i am somehow accountable for what I eat each day I will never break these habits. So I wondered if there's anyone here in the same boat that fancies joining me in shaming themselves each day but without the calorie count or weigh in?

I'm in a similar boat to you (though have no idea about metabolic age!) and want to cut down on the snacks/treats and sugar. I often feel like I 'deserve' something sweet, but I know this is just a bad habit.

I've done really well this week after a concerted effort but I'm craving biscuits and cake, and don't want to get derailed!

I'm in...What next?! Smile

I'm very tempted to say can I wait until the kids go back to school but I know that's bullshit so guess it starts tomorrow??
Today I had a good breakfast, lunch was ok though probably not enough, I've eaten at least 6 biscuits plus picked at kids pasta, not drunk enough water, have had crappy low fat hot chocolate which I know is high in sugar and am now picking at Easter eggs...
So maybe let's not bother discussing the good stuff we've eaten but put down our sins?!
Also I'm considering making some of those odd prune and cacao truffle things in the hope they will help my sweet tooth - do you think it's worth bothering?! I can't just ignore my sweet tooth as it won't go away so am thinking I need some sort of replacements?

Yummmm. ..prune and cacoa....you're selling it so well!Grin

I had two of Aldi's Monser Roth mini mint dark chocolate bars this afternoon and a hot cross bun at 11 ish. Other than that, it's been a pretty good day of healthy eating...need more water though.

I have a meeting this evening so it'll be a miracle if the biscuit count doesn't increase by 9pm!

I'm dragging myself out for a run now but safe in the knowledge that a glass of wine awaits!

Full on circuits class this morning...then massive fail in the shape of amazing rocky road from the deli stall on the market. I blame DS for forcing me into it...did I mention I lack any willpower?! Oh and I can write tonight off as friends are popping in for a glass of wine and a catch up. I'll see you on the other side!!

Google diet doctor, I follow it and never feel hungry. Have lost 4 stone so far with no fuss!

I really don't want to follow any diet though and don't want or need to lose weight. This is about me and my lack of willpower to stop at 1/2 biscuits!!

I'm also a healthy weight but eat non stop junk food all day Blush I'm kidding myself that I MUST be healthy because I'm a healthy weight but what I eat really can't be good for my body. My main problems are crisps, chocolate, cheese and coffee. I eat min 2 but max 6 packets of crisps a day, loads of cheese and crackers, I couldn't even tell you how much chocolate/sweets and the only thing I drink is coffee. Then I also eat a huge evening meal followed by a dessert and then sugary cereal for supper Blush I'm a postie so walk 10+ miles a day which is why I don't put on weight but it still must be damaging my body!?

I'm up for this.
Same as, I'm a healthy weight and I exercise regularly. But my diet leaves a lot to be desired. Not nearly enough fruit and veg and far too many sugary snacks.
Today so far I've had:
Pancakes with syrup for breakfast
A Picnic bar from the vending machine after swimming.
Leftover pizza and birthday cake for lunch.
An apple!!!Grin
Two cups of coffee.

Written down that is dreadful! In my defence DS had a sleepover party last night, hence the piss poor breakfast and lunch.
Tomorrow I'm determined to be better.

Today I'm aiming for only one packet of crisps, chocolate bar and cup of coffee. Not quite healthy eating but I don't think I can go cold turkey Confused

I can't go cold turkey either - and this for me isn't about giving up anything, just bringing my sweet tooth under control and reducing snacks to an acceptable level!

Started well with banana and strawberries. ..I know they're sweet bt it's the 'right' sort of sugar isn't it?! I can't do without fruit, the vitamins/fobre outweigh it's sugar content IMO. Happy Saturday!

Agreed on the fruit - it's the biscuits/cakes/crisps/chocolate etc we are talking about right?!

Morning all.
I'm off to not too bad a start today. I'm at soft play with DS. And while I have had two coffees, I have only had a banana and a granola bar to eat.
Not sure what lunch will be but tea will be spag bol. Hoping to avoid too many snacks in between!
Good luck everyone!

TBH Why don't you just stop buying crap? Seriously. No one is putting it in your trolley except you. Your kids don't need it- no one does.
I'm not being holier than thou here but when I had DCs at home I didn't buy biscuits or cake or sweets. Maybe once a week I'd make a home made pudding at weekends.

If it's not in the house and you don't resort to baking, then the urge will disappear. I eat hardly any sugar - maybe 1 -2 teaspoons a day as honey- and find anything sweet quite revolting. You can educate your taste buds not to eat sweet stuff.

Try all the usual tips- distraction techniques, eating cut up veg, etc etc.
Might take a month but you can do it!

And for the record I don't buy loads of crap - I look after my elderly neighbour a lot and he is of the generation that he wants to give me things in return and is a fantastic baker so gives me loads of stuff - I can hardly say no can I? Yes I could then bin it but that's hard when I know an 88 year old man has spent time baking it for me?
Other than that I buy the odd few bits for the kids but I buy stuff I don't like usually. My husband buys me treats a fair bit and when we entertain which is quite often I generally offer a pudding.

Sorry if you found my post annoying but you did say you ate 6 biscuits, left over pasta, a choc drink, chocolate and you 'eat way too much crap'.

No mention of an 88 yr old force feeding you with those.

I was telling you what worked for me and my family in order to cut out the crap. If you only want posts from people who are still struggling to do that, maybe say so - because this is a public forum.
