Any recommendations on how to restrict iPad use for dc

Problem is in the holidays, they ask, I say yes (because it keeps them quiet and they love it) but if I actually counted up how much time they were on iPads I think I would be shocked.

Is there an app which just locks them out after a certain amount of usage in a 24hr period?

The kindle fire has this option under parental controls, I'm not aware of iPads - someone will be along I'm sure. Assume you've done all the other stuff already (block purchases etc?)

In our house I find just telling them to get off the iPad after the required period does the trick! however my DC are young (and only allowed 1hr per day so easier to police)

There is something that turns off the apps on a timer- DH installed it on DD's phone so that it is of no use to her after 7pm or b

Yes. Take it away, get them out in the garden and get them running around. Kids do not require an iPad

There is an app caked Screen time, which let's you set the number of minutes pet day and set times when it doesn't work at all. You can also set it up for then to earn time by doing chores.
But be warned, don't put it on your device, it takes over! If the kids have there own device it would be fine.

Also, there is something called guided access that you can turn on in settings (for Apple devices) then if you click 3 times when in an app they can't leave it. Also I've been tools there is an option through that to allocated a time to that access as well.

Yes mine are a bit older (both at secondary school) They do get off it when I tell them but it's remembering to tell them or noticing when they've snuck back on it that's the problem

Turning the Internet off won't work as lots of their apps are offline and I want to use the Internet!

Programme that turns off apps is called Curbi, apparently there is a UK and US version
