Personally, yes I do think it has to be 4th gen.

I am looking at DS1s, which is an 8GB and he has 2.6GB free. However, he uses his nano for music. If it was to be used for music i would be tempted to go for 16gb. In use my phone for everything and have 3GB free out of 16.

They don't do a 16GB, it jumps from 8 to 32 with a big price hike to go with it.

I've just bought a refurbished 8GB for my DS1's Christmas so I'm really hoping it will have enough space.

I bought it from the apple website. It was £139 for a 4th gen one. It's in perfect condition.

I think for a child 8GB is fine. My DS(10) has one. If I am totally honest he's filled it up with games and movies and he does have to pick & choose what he wants on.

So is 8GB enough? No. But hey, kids need to learn to make do don't they? Does my son care that he has to make choices like do I delete 6 crappy free games to download a movie? Nope, he loves his iPod.

I got an 8GB one a few weeks ago from Tescos direct which was £165 and I googled for a discount code and found one for £10 so in the end it was £155 and I got it delivered to my local store for free.

Oh, if it's a choice between 8gb and 32, definitely 8.

I have had no problems at all. It comes with 6 months warranty. I bought one with condition B-, but apart from a tiny mark on the front (that I can't see, DD can barely see) and a tiny dint in the chrome back, it looks amazing! She's only had it 2 weeks, but it all seems to function "as new" - she plays with it every day. Delivery was really quick.

I used them because a number of people recommended them on the moneysavingexpert website.
