The cake isn't the problem, im not too dim, I can manage a sponge.

However....I have never actually decorated one. What icing do I use? How do I stick it on?

What do I do, try and make it in the shape of Sonic? make a round one and draw on it? make a round one and make the picture out of more icing? Help!!

so many questions and not enough time

sainsburys do picture cakes - just take a pic along and they put it on the top.

Drawing I can do, im pretty good at it (and Sonic is easy!) Where would I get paste colour? I have a black icing pen (about all I have got).

whispers do you have to put marzipan on sponge cakes because im assuming not?

I live in a smallish city and there a couple of outlets within a few miles.

try searching for sonic cake in flickr - there are several with pictures on the cake, and this one which is sonic-shaped...

If you are going to cut it to shape use madiera cake and make sure it is cold (even frozen) before you start carving.

fridge-cold will do, but cold/frozen gives you sharper lines and less crumbs.

Good Luck - you can do it, you know you can.
